Yeah, i'm new here. I just picked up an '02 Black Liberty Limited. Love it. Just have a question. The place i got it buffed it and somehow buffed the chrome right out of the emblems. The Jeep on the hook, the 3.7L and the Jeep on the tailgate. Anyone know a good way to get these off? I"m assuming they're just glued on. I want to replace them with brand new ones which i will order when i figure out how to get these off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

usualy a heat gun and a lot of time so that you dont bubble the paint up, the heat gun could also be the wifes hair dryer

I've used fishing line to "slice" them off, then some goo-b-gone to get the rest off.

i thought about the heat gun, but, it being black, you'd be amazed at how hot it gets. I dont' think a heat gun/blowdryer could get it any hotter, but i'll try it.

And that was my first idea, when it's hot, use some fishin line to sort of saw it off. I'll give that a try. I just wanted to see what the consensus was....

A nice hot summer day and/or a heat gun to loosen the adhesive. Then a strong plastic putty type knife to pry them off and to keep from burning your fingers. I also have some 3M emblem adhesive remover that is great you can drip it behind the emblem to help soften the glue before you start and to remove what left of the glue when it off. Now depending on how old your Jeep is and what color it is you might have a problem with the fact that the paint under the emblem will look nice and new and the rest off the Jeep has faded a bit, if thats the case you will still be able to see where it used to when you remove it.

Good luck and take your time and you shouldn't have a problem. I've been think about pulling all mine emblems off my Jeep now before the emblem or the paint fades :)

A heat gun will work fine. I've taken many decals off with them before. Trust me, it'll get much hotter than your paint ever gets on it's own in the sun. :)

I just had mine replaced at the dealer he used a plastic knife looking thing that kinda like a puddy knife. He then used some diluted thinner to get the glue off. My emblems did the same thing. Came to a point but then broaden out so it would not scratch the paint. Actually looked more like a plastic butter knife.

Put the KJ in the sun and let the paint warm up. Use some dental floss and carefully work it between the emblems and the paint. I took mine off using the dental floss to pry up a corner, then just used my fingers to pull them off. They call came off real easy and are just made out of chome covered foam.

Took about 5 minutes for each emblem. Cleaned the paint off afterwards with some adhesive remover then waxed the area to protect the paint.

I took all of mine off with a hair dryer, just get them warm and they peal right off, spray with WD40 let sit for a while, then take off the glue, buff out as if you were waxing it . I spent maybe a total of 45 minutes to an hour to debadges mine. Looks a lot better without all that on there anyways esp. Black!
