The issue is this. If I back up and not stop completely then put it into drive it will not go into gear right away. Even if I hold the brake after backing it will take a second to go in gear. I had my brother take a look at it and he said it could be a servo that is not working right but he does not know how the libby trans is put together or what the model is. It is an 04 with 40000 on it I have not done a tranny flush yet and I was thinking that could be the issue. So the question is has anyone else had a problem like this or heard of the trans having a common problem like that. I know that a lot of us have had a problem with the temp light coming on during the trail rides. This might has a connection. Any feedback would be helpful. With the engine having a funny miss in it, the axel seal that went out, the loss of power on hills I might be cutting my losses. Not saying that the Liberty is a bad vehicle but I am thinking that this one may end up being repaired more times then I would like. I know that there are consequences when you drive a vehicle as hard off-road as I do but this is starting to become a problem.

I haven't experience that same order, however twice now I have experience a problem when wheeling I go from 1st to park put the emergency brake on to get out to spot and the vehicle still rolls and makes a clicky-clicky sound. I put it back in drive, then back in park with brake apply and wait a few secs.

???

Maybe because it is electronic control it sometimes has a delay, may not be related to your problem... but just thought I would share my experience.

Krazzle, you have a problem, how steep a hill are you stopped on when it does this? If not too steep, you need to check your ebrake tensioners (inside the rear drum, kinda a ratchet/gear mechanism with a lever to adjust it each time you set it or go reverse) that and your parking gear is worn if it can not support the vehicle (it will lurch forward a bit, but not more than 6 inches or so.

WV, yours could be normal, mine does this (45 RFE), the clicking you here is just the servo engaging. My Chrysler minivan's tranny did the same thing. As for the delay, it could be normal, especially if you shift before you come to a complete stop (making servo work harder.)

My 04' made that sound pretty much since day one. And I do notice it on my 05' also but not quite as bad.

I am getting the same feedback from the Mid-Atlantic forum, so I feel better knowing that it is common for this to happen. I just have to remember to press the brake all the time before shifting.
Thanks Chris :D

Can you get something from the delar saying that this is a recall. My service mgr. at the delarship is a very good guy. He sold me both of my Jeeps when he was a salesman and he knows me and my wife by our first names. If he can get this info he will hook me up.
