My KJ is an 2006 CRD. When I use either one of my two USB power port chargers to charge up my cell phone, I get a lot of static on both AM & FM. Unplug either one and the static goes away. Both are made in China. Is there a good cell phone charger that works with a USB "C" type phone that does not produce static?

Weird - I'm using one of Shenzen's Finest USB-C dual-port chargers (it lives permanently in the lighter socket) and have never had an issue like the one you're describing. Does the static go away with all cables unplugged from the charger, or is it there regardless of whether or not anything is connected to it?

It sounds to me like a possible antenna ground issue, but, before digging into the KJ's wiring, let me suggest trying the following: use a different USB-C cable, and charge a different phone (or device) with both it and the original one. That should isolate whether or not it's an issue with the charger, cable, phone, or combination of the above.

Also, is your stereo OEM or aftermarket?

Both my 12 V USB Power port chargers make radio noise with or without the phone connected. I suspect because both are Made in China, they are second rate. I want to find a good brand to buy that works.

I'm interested.
Have any luck finding a quality one that works?

Because there is some electrical interference.

The TLDR of part 15 of the FCC rules state that electronic devices will have to accept interference, but they may not create it.

If it's been given a pass by the FCC it shouldn't make any, or at least not very much, noise. Doing so would mean that it's a radio transmitter, and should be regulated as such. If it transmits noise it's defective.
