I want to join the ranks of the "stickered" among this site, but I'd prefer a more stylized design. I came up with the following and plan on talking to a local sign shop about vinyl cutting costs. I would like to guage interest from the rest of you and the founder so I can try and get a quantity discount. I'll donate anything over the cost of the materials and shipping back to the site.

Here's the design. Any comments or suggestions?

Maybe we could get 'em in silver and replace those too...

Looks nice! I like the original LOST logo, but I might have room for another sticker.

I love that design! crisp and clean is the way stickers should be

I hate how the current oval sticker had the letters bulging out at a *different angle* than the oval of the sticker. It just seems cheesy, I liked it better in 2D.

Your design looks great! I'd be happy to throw one of those on my flipper glass if they were available.

(PS - I'm working on a logo for the northeast chapter, I'd love to hear your input on it since you're looking at logo design as well - details are in the NE forum)

I like the old style sticker just the way it is. Highly recognizable and known the world over. Buy some, The money supports This Forum.

Make sure you talk to Darby Walters about it before going any further.

Before I get anymore replies, I'd like to point out that the point of my post was to show the design and get comments, suggestions and ultimatley approval or disapproval from the people who run this club. I definitely did not want to start a flame war which is the direction I fear this going. Hopefully if it does an admin closes the topic quickly.

I am not here to step on anyone's toes. I think anyone here who has a special skill probably does, or if not, should, try to put it to good use for others that enjoy the same recreational activity.

That said, I am not in any way attempting to come in here a newbie and change the design or inner workings of this website. On the contrary, I want to help advertise this club and was looking for yet another way to do so as I prefer a vinyl outline sticker to the standard oval solid stickers. I also wanted to share my skill and hopefully offer another alternative to others on this forum.

As a final note, thank you to the founders for providing a great place for everone to get information on thier KJs.

No flames here. I think it's cool that you're willing to spend time trying to provide another alternative design.

My personal favorite is still the original b/w Euro decal (with the big KJ in the middle). I really like yours, though. I'd just be inclined to replace the slanty italic text with good old-fashioned block letters.

Also, you might have trouble getting a shop to cut that many letters. I had to significantly cut down the detail in the LOST Rockies decal. Of course, if you just do a standard sticker, you can have all the detail you want, but I really like the vinyl.

Any way you could make the jeep look burlier? ;) JK, it's cool.

...and I would wait to see if it maybe makes sense to send your design to Darby so that he can run them with the other decals that he does. Just a thought.

Comment: You've certainly got artistic talent.

On the other hand, FWIW, I would be happy with any design if it were a actual decal (no backgound), and not just a sticker. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

Does your local chapter have a sticker yet? (I haven't checked) You might be able to use it for that. Not saying it would be bad for the national because I like the design but I still prefer the original euro KJ like stated above.

pixeldzn,

It is a nice logo. I am not sure if you are aware of the trademark situation for LOST. Just want to keep you from causing any problems for yourself down the road. Darby started LOST and has the name trademarked. That means you will need to get his permission to use the name LOST in your decal.

I do like the decal, but like Troy said.....perhaps a burlier KJ?

if he sells his product or uses it for comercial purposes, he'll need to get permission. there's nothign wrong wtih making a sticker that says LOST on it for your own purposes. just dont put the name of the group.

find a lawyer that would take the word LOST to court.

folks: let's leave the flame wars off these boards, especially in regards to stickers. having more stickers is a good thing, and less legal advice even better.

I like the sticker but if you want to see them made then You will have to send an email to sevenwallyseven@aol.com he has always done our decals and stickers.

Again the LOST group is supported by decals, stickers, t-shirts. If anyone is making other stuff and selling it...THAT IS GOING TO BE A REAL PROBLEM.

WE HAVE WORKED OUR ASSES OFF TO KEEP THIS GOING. If guys start making stuff and selling it for profit then there is no need to have this site.

Again the new sticker looks great but just email it to Wally and get him to get some made.

The old EZBoard was paid out of just a couple of guys pockets and a very small amount fromn the decals and t-shirts.

This new site is the same was...only a couple of folks paid for all this and then we had a few donations and a few t-shirt sales.

All the local LOST clubs has their own design for thier own club sticker. They can sell them to raise money for their own club. But again...it goes for a LOST club not just money in one persons pocket.

I will say it again. If guys are wanting to sell LOST items for a profit for themselves...This is a problem. Later...Clint

Yes, don't get me wrong. Anything you sell, IMHO, should go 100% to the LOST group. All of it. Completely.

1. In no way am I attempting to produce a product not endorsed by the club!!! I posted this here for perusal by all and ultimately a yes or no by Darby.

2. In no way am I attemting to gain a profit!! On the contrary, maybe I can earn a dollar for the club with each order. I want to promote and grow the club like the rest of you.

3. Please read my posts, all the way, twice if necessary, before flaming me. Many of the negative comments would have been unnecessary had my original and additional posts been read fully.

4. The poster who said it may be appropriate for the local club had a good idea. Anyone from the midwest have any suggestions? The only thing I see is that we don't really have mountains here ...

5. As a few have expressed a fondness for the euro style logo, but like the idea of a vinyl sticker, here is an alternative. I'd be willing to put this on my Jeep as well. Again, this is with and only with Darby's approval.

Image

6. Thanks for everyone's comments - positive and negative! I for one can take constructive criticism!

Pixeldzn, I did not take your post wrong in anyway. You have a nice design and all you need to do is run it by Wally.

Not pointing the finger at anyone...But just a comment.

Seems like every so often..Someone thinks that anyone and everyone should be able to use the LOST name for products. WRONG. The last time this came up we even had a member from this site tracking down to be sure if we had or not trademarks and copywrite the name for the group. This is just freaking wrong.

You guys have gotten a great website for well over 3 years now and we are even making it better... and it has not cost anyone a dime but just a couple of guys.

I will say it again...if someone is selling LOST gear and sticking the money in their own pocket...They are robbing from all of us here and it needs to STOP. Later...Clint

Just so everyone knows...I was emailed about this and was asked if this would be OK...I am going to talk to JJsKJ, skrracing and CalliWally...since I am TxWally and work on getting these done. I like the design and the fact that they are vinyl...can easily be made into different colors...

Maybe you will see them in the very near future...we could even have two sizes ( small ones for the ones of us that aren't "TrailRated" )...lol

pixel: come to the midwest jeepthing event this weekend and we'll talk! :)

i think it'd be fun to see a really big kj driving through as tall as the skyscrapers in chicago. maybe even driving over them, like the rocks in other stickers.

Climbing the Sears Tower or having the KJ ride the El rails would be regionally fitting but that is specific to only the Chicago area.

Here's an updated version, with less small type to make it work with vinyl cutting -- also beefed up the KJ. Better?
