Parakeet

Yea that sounds like a great idea. Now if it said CRD I wouldn't touch it, or even 4.0L haha.

Gosh, I wish it had the 4.0. I know the 3.7 has more power, but the 4.0 gets its torque much, much lower than the 3.7.

An old 4.0 cherokee can definately outrun our 3.7 lib as tested by my friend and I

..........but did you know that torue and horsepower are always equal at 5252 rpm?

Sorry for the trivia, but I'm hitting the PBR on a Thursday night. BTW, what is this no working for the summer? Must be nice!

That is only true on a linear equation...doesn't not work when hp and torque values curve ect.

Not sure what you mean Wally, but they should always cross at 5252 if calculating one from the other. Or if both are determined experimentally, they should still cross somewhere near 5252 with the difference being due to instrument inaccuracies. Yes it is a linear equation, but that has nothing really to do with it. The equation just relates torque to HP at a given RPM. The equation does not produce a curve. A curve is produced experimentally from a dyno run. All the equation allows you to do is calculate HP from Torque or vice verse at one point in time.

Torque is just Work (Force x Distance) Ft*lb or N*m, with is work.
Horsepower is power (Work/time). Since it is rotational you have to use RPM for a time unit and when you do the math you end up with 5252 left over as a constant. That is why the cross at 5252 RPMs

Also remember an XJ weight 700-800 lbs less than a KJ, so it should out run one even if it has a less powerful engine. Attach a 800lbs trailer to an XJ and then race. Also, ever driven a 4.0 in a WJ or ZJ which weighs closer to a KJ at ~4000lbs? Feels more sluggish vs a KJ to me. The 4.0 has a little more grunt off the line, but it feels like it runs out of steam past 15-20mph where the 3.7 keeps spooling up and then really takes off.
