Terry,
Tell her since its so darn hot in florida, the 2.5" of lift will raise the air intake higher away from the hot pavement, allowing cooler air in which will increase gas mileage  Since gas prices are going up: you gotta spend a little to save a little.

And of course some nice looking wheels to complement that lift. This is the wifes daily driver thru the week, and my past time on the weekends. She likes the liffted look. The big thing here is it not only makes the jeep look good, but also the driver.

My wife just rolls her eyes and says whatever you want Dear AS LONG AS IT DOESNT COME OUT OF MY SAVINGS!  She also adds that she is sure that some Doctor can come up with a cure for the Jeep/ Harley disease I have. Keep telling her I was doing this before she was even born so I think I am totally uncureable!

Okay, it’s me, the real dieselenthusiast. Sorry that she broke code and hacked into this thread. We need to tighten security. Her first vehicle was a 1988 Chevy Suburban. I drove a lifted 1993 GMC SIERRA when she and I got married. We traded her Suburban for a 1995 Tahoe after we got married. We then bought the Cummins, which is like a mini semi. So when we bought the Liberty she thought it kinda sat low to the ground. So the lift was rather an easy persuasion. It’s stuff like the roof rack and light bar that I have trouble convincing her of. She really trusts me know that we went from 20 mpg to 27 mpg on the Cummins by adding upgrades. Plus these are the first two NEW vehicles we have bought, and are planning to keep them forever. No NEW vehicle purchase is in the forecast for the next 10 years! This makes it easier to customize our rigs knowing we are keeping them. Others who sell or trade off every few years sure makes it difficult justifying dumping loads of expensive modifications into them.

Well, since you are coming out this way, the mods are a way of life. If you come up to the Rockies, that Cummins beast will be too big for most trails. I'd hate to see you roll down the mountains....not by way of your tires either.

The Liberty will do just perfect. You will want the basics (skids, rails, lift, recovery hooks) Bigger tires.....maybe. Does make a big difference when clearing an additional 1". The other mods like the basket is great for camping gear since you will want tools and spares in the back. The additional lights are for those camping trips or long or late trail rides that go into the darkness. A rear hitch for the camper or the bike rack (remember camping gear up on the rack) and recovery point.

What elese?

Let her drive offroad! Hey it worked for me (and Chris) - 15 yrs of offroading together and 10 years of marriage can't be a bad sign.

I wasn't really that enthused until he let me drive on a rocky trail in an old beat up Bronco....the rest is history.

Yeah I married well. My wife doesn't really care about the money. She knows I handle all the money and she likes it that way. So do I. Maybe it would go over a little better if you told her that your lifting the Jeep and then asked her to pick out the lift that she liked the most so feels important. It worked for me when I got my bumpers.
