It only takes a few minutes to remove the skid, and it makes access way easier to change the t-case fluid. Just hold the tranny skid up with a jack or stand or even blocks of wood.

Was gonna do it myself (allright, I was fully prepared to try to convince myself to do it...) but it was a crappy day so I took it down to Strauss. They put it on the lift, had the fluid in stock and did it there lickety split. $45 incl oil. Old stuff was pretty dirty but at least fluid came out (I was half expecting it to be dry!). Anyway, the tech used a clean grease gun to pump the new fluid in. I thought that was pretty inventive. Never thought of it!
