I'm really happy with the 3.7, and agree with most of the posts about it's durability.

The day they stamp SRT on the side of the Lib, the 3.7 may not look to good, but last time I checked the badge said Trail Rated.

The 3.7 is a great match for the Liberty.

No offense taken by me. I have noticed that the stop and go driving I sometimes do has a drastic effect on my mileage(down around 15mpg) fortunately it is not that often I am in that situation.
I have tried many aftermarket milage improvers that do not work and my curent setup seems to work good for me.
I also note that the difference in my mileage from 65mph (21-22mpg)
and 75mph(17-18mpg) seems high.

3.7L is a good little engine and performs well off road, but I think that they should have had an HO option or a larger, optional block as well.

The little 6 is just not enough for the mass of the KJ to do everything well. I personally feel that the KJ is a little underpowered. I would prefer to be able to cruise on the highway at around 75 without shifting in and out of gear when there are elevation changes.

I still love my KJ, but I wish I could have put an 8 cyl in there, or added around 50Hp/tq. My goal is to eventually add forced induction when I need to rebuild the engine. I think that will get the 3.7L to where it should be.

You can actually fix the sluggishness of it pretty easily by fixing up the drivetrain. Go to a set of 4.10 gears, and replace the junk torque converter. At least put a better drop in air filter, and replace your muffler. Get your computer programmed with aggressive timing, and get the torque management turned off. It will be surprising powerful. However, it will cost you around $3500 to do all that. You can also do a ram-air hood, better intake, and catback exhaust and be around $5000. People will swear you at least have a 4.7 squeezed in there. I've been asked what type of supercharger I have before.
