he already said it "can't" be the exhaust cause it does it while sitting still, Oh and when he puts it in reverse...... :banghead: :banghead: :goink:
And us old timers who have been wrenching for over 25 yrs wouldn't know about any of that stuff vs a 19 yr old who's been around the block....maybe once.

I know its not because I was sitting under the jeep while revving it, exhaust was moving a little with the engine like its supposed to. No dirt trapped anywhere, exhaust doesn't move excessively when I shake it, skids are on tight. It did it right when I got to work last night. It didn't do it until I got into my driveway this morning. I put it into reverse and it started making that noise, and when I put it into park it shifted into it kind of hard. ATF levels are fine, fluid looks clean. I hope the tranny isn't on its way out.

1.. seriously dude it sounds to us like exhaust or some sheet metal that is vibrating.. that happens at idle or at rev.

2. lets all take in consideration tha only he knows the severity of the rattle.. maybe what hes calling a rattle is actually a clunk of an engine mount..

I said it sounds like a cellphone vibrating loudly. I will try and get a video of it so maybe you guys can hear it.
It doesn't do it while idling or revving. The only time I can get it to do it is when its warm and I put it in reverse. It does it after about 15 minutes of driving, it likes to do it while slowing down. It doesn't sound like an exhaust rattle at all.

But I will get a video with some sound so you can hear.

What does that mean and how is it fixed?

And how can I be sure that's what it is?

at its basis your tranny works by shooting jets of fluid at paddles... (really simple description)

if one of those is messed up it can make a buzzing sound..

as i understand it.. im sure jkkj will chime in or TBJ if hes on this forum.

You spoke of the unmentionable one.
He is not to be spoke of is not here anymore. :ALONE:

But I'm sure Troy will pop in and give me an extreme amount of knowledge on this issue and save the day or something like that.

You're not going to know 100% based on responses in a forum. :( Check the things suggested... and then if you're still not sure, have a mechanic check it out.

I've checked everything they told me to check. Got nothing.
I think I've narrowed it down to the tranny because sometimes I can get it to do it by shifting into reverse. But sometimes I can't get it to do it. Just like earlier I was trying to get it to do it to get a video of it so you can hear what it sounds like but it wouldn't do it. And that was after like 20 minutes of driving. It was doing it when I was driving, mostly while accelerating but it would quickly stop. It's just weird.

Like I said before, I checked all of the things they told me to, there were no problems with any of the things they mentioned.

I got a feeling its coming from INSIDE the tranny.

Ok, so today I was messing around with it when I got home today before I shut it off. It was hard to get it to start doing, after a while of messing around I figured out it would do it when I put it in reverse go backwards a little bit then stop, but it would start until I applied the brakes. I put the e-brake on to get out and get under the jeep to locate the sound but right when I took my foot off the break it would stop doing. So I shut it off to go inside to get the camera to get a video. I get back in and start the jeep and do that same procedure but it wouldn't do it. I tried quite a few times to get it to do it in different gears, reversing and stopping forward and stopping. It wouldn't make the sound.

Confusing the hell outta me. :dizzy: :furious:

Maybe not but I've had moments like this where I heard a noise but everything was fine and it drove me crazy until I just turned up the radio and cranked up the ignorance. Not saying it's your situation too, just sayin. :P
