I talked to my stealership today and they told me they would look into it. What is the phone number for Chrysler Corporate? I want to call them myself.

The Jeep service writer did not know of this so called "recall" but did mention that Chrysler has come out with a kit to fix the regulator instead of replacing the glass and the regulator. I wonder if this is true and if so, is it similar to the steiger kit?

My front passenger side just went out. :(

:(

Now this is an interesting development. If anybody can learn more on this, please post. Perhaps a decent fix will FINALLY be in the works.

My stealership informed me today that they would fix my window for free following this TSB below. It looks a lot like a steiger repair to me.

TSB 23-025-10 Rev A

Call your dealer and make them fix this for free!!!!!!!

So here is the million dollar question: Will they repair/replace this on any KJ, regardless of warranty status? Original owners only? My 07 model is well past the 3/36 warranty period.

And if they do not warranty it, at least we can just order the lift plate kit and install it ourselves for only $75. Either way, I am happy. ...when my next regulator breaks.

2007 Liberty, I am 3rd owner, NO warranty of any kind. Last 2 have had "parts" replaced. I will look at the invoices to see if there is any other info on it

I went to my dealer this morning and they told me I did not have coverage. I call Chrysler and was told that they will fix it for free. They are issuing a service ticket to my local dealer. I should have my window fixed this week. Don't take no for an answer. Call Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997 and press 5 for the complaint department. It sounds like there was a recall issued on Dec. 6 and it has not showed up in the dealerships system yet. They person on the phone told me even if I don't have an extended warranty that they would still fix it.

Why would you want the steiger if the dealer would do it for free?

Also, I am waiting for tjkj to chime in. He was positive there would not be a recall. He made it seem like we wanted something for free and we were pretty much slimeball moochers. No offense tjkj, as you are the most knowledgeable person on here. But your poor attitude tends to run a bit thin.
Meanwhile...WOO HOO....it sounds like we are finally getting a fix!!! Maybe it is too good to be true?

I emailed Jeep asking about the fix, got a call from them a couple days later giving me a claim number and telling me to take it into the dealer, they would check it out and if it was in fact the regulator, the dealer would call in against the claim number and verify covering the fix.

Jeep went in this morning, I got a call about and hour ago saying it was the regulator and that they would call into Jeep, they called back about 15 minutes ago saying Jeep approved the fix but w/ a $50 "copay". Part was ordered, should be there in the morning and they would have it fixed and back to me tomorrow afternoon.

So far, so good.

Had an appointment at the dealer today. They took my door apart, put it back together and ordered some parts. I have an appointment next week to get it fixed once the parts come in. I am the third owner with no warranty and I will not have to pay anything. Anyone with window troubles, I recommend talking to your dealer and/or Chrysler to get it fixed.

They also told me that if I have another one fail before the end of 2013, they will fix all my window regulators with the Jeep Steiger Kit.

Call or email Jeep. Link to the site and info is posted in this thread. I was told on the phone that 06-07's are 100% covered but earlier models have a co-pay. Not sure if that is how it will be everywhere but I was happy it is only $50.

I am really hoping that Chrysler is standing up and finally providing a true fix kit, instead of replacing bad designed regulators with more bad designed regulators. I have been fighting with them on each occurrence for the past 3 years and 12 regulator replacements. I am still out $400 for the initial $100 warranty deductible on each window; but have continued to get them replaced free up with a lot of headache dealing with the dealer and Chrysler. Maybe I can recover that $400 now that it is an admitted defect. Time to contact Chrysler again... I should just put them on speed dial.

I have seen alot on here about the 2006- having a "fix kit" available now; does anyone know what they have for the 2002-2005 versions? I doubt they will replace any of mine with the kit until they break again, but at least there may be an end in sight finally.

Had the rear passenger regulator go out last night, took it to a dealer with an aftermarkt warranty, and it was covered with my 200 deductable. Called Jeep, they had a claim on it in a few hours, they called the dealer, dealer called me, now its fixed for free!!!!   :pepper: :pepper: :pepper:

I received a letter today stating that the 7 yr warranty period is being extended from the date of service, for 7 yrs, and I'm the 2nd owner. It also stated I just need to go to the dealership with the letter, if I have any issues, and the dealership will look into the regulators and replace them if they need to be, free of charge.. I'm happy, even though I do not have any issues to date. :D
