Find someone with an 05, install your cluster into theirs, disable the chime, then install it into yours.

you sir are a GENIUS!!! I don't know why I didn't think of that before. My Sister in law has an 05 so I will be doing this right away, thanks

...get in, close the door, put the seatbelt on, turn the key to on, wait for the seatbelt light to turn off, then unbuckle and buckle it at least 5 times in 10 seconds, then turn the key to off. It should chime when you turn it off if you do this right.

Bingo :P

I'll definitely have to try the first suggestion! HA. However, I must confess I would NEVER wear my seat belt if not for that noise! :) ha

Newbie late to this thread, but I will also confirm that in my '05 Limited CRD, the procedure to turn off the seatbelt chime worked as Sir Sam described. To reiterate:

With ignition off buckle up
Turn ignition to on without starting
Wait for seatbelt light to go out
Unbuckle, rebuckle up, x5
Turn ignition off

Upon turning ignition to the off position the vehicle let out a chime, and since then the seatbelt warning chime has been disabled, but the dash light is still present when unbuckled and the vehicle is on. I have not tried the reset, but when I get around to my EGR I will have to disconnect the power. I will let you know if it resets to default.

I've already had my power disconnected for >1 hr since I disabled my chime, it did not reset it.

Great Thread. I DO wear my seatbelt, but when doing stuff like backing the trailer, or moving the vehicle to get it loaded, the beeping is annoying.

Tried this on my 2012 KK and I get the one chime when you turn off the key after doing the procedure, but then when you insert the key again and start it with the belt unbuckled the seatbelt chime starts beeping at you :(

It worked for me and my 2012 Arctic.

Again, I must ask. Does the owner's manual not explain this procedure?

It does but it was exceedingly difficult to find.

This thread on the other hand is very easy to find.

I'd also like to point out that many many used vehicles do not come with the owners manual. Out of the past 30 or so Jeeps I have bought I have gotten only a single one with the owners manual.

I don't know why people take the owners manual out of their vehicle, but I so rarely get used vehicles with them, this is also very annoying when fuse panel diagrams are posted in the owners manual.

Now might I ask, whats so wrong with this being posted here for people who obviously want to know how to do this to see how to do it? I mean heck, 90% of the content posted here could just reference someone off site, what the heck is the point of having lost unless we are here to share

Post subject:  Re: how to disable the seatbelt sound

I must correct my last post!
It has worked on my 2012 KK. I still get the 5 beeps at startup if I'm unbuckled, but if I drive off without putting on my seatbelt, or undo my belt while driving it doesn't beep anymore. Just the dash light illuminates. Happy with that :)
