Does anyone know where i could get the thing the D-ring goes in? I've already have the D-ring, it was in the back of my dads work truck and I took it. :twisted:

He didnt care though.

That seems to be the expensive part, ironically enough. Some people have had good results making their own out of stock metal, but I don't know if that is something I'd want to cheap out on.

Some people say that using a hitch pin by itself is just as strong as a shackle. If the pin is 1/2 inch thick and supported on each side (2" apart) I have to believe that it's more likely to bend than if it is supported for the entire 2" (and would have to sheer to fail).
