The only issues I've had were from the cheap lift that I started out with and one of the clips that hold an O2 sensor's wires broke so the wires got melted by the exhaust. That was caused by 'wheeling but, cheap and easy to fix.

the first people never returned my call. The other one is a rebuild but they have no clue what kind of accident it was in.

Edit: ok first people just called me back as i pressed send submit lol. It is in good condition but it has 121,000km, thats pretty high for an 04. So nobody likes the black one? Does anybody have that color interior like the black one i posted? it seems to be a lighter color, how badly will that show dirt you think?

Looks like a great run in that Pennsylvania parking lot.

I run my KJ, 3-wheeling in the Sierras:

What did this guy do to require pulling the axle shaft?

This is completely stock (e.g. GY SR-A tires, no skids, and no lift). Spent 7 hours wheelin' before I slid trying to climb a muddy hill and busted a tire and wheel. I also dented the tranny pan. I know have skids. Hard lesson to learn. But, I had fun for the first 7 hours. I kept up the entire time with a lifted Xterra and lifted Cherokee, both with 31" tires.

So hopefully soon i will have one.

I've had bad luck with my KJ, but I'm willing to bet it's mostly my fault, except for my F$&#%@$ hood cable.

Mileage: mishap
30K: driver's side upper ball joint failure
40K: hood opening cable loose (now have to open hood from underneath with super-long screwdriver  :x )
45K: T-case switch goes out
50K: both front hubs shot
52K: driver's side upper control arm failure

I've also been told by GOJeep in Littleton that the bushings of my front lower control arms are shot, but when I took it in for the LBJ recall they didn't say a word :x so I still don't know if they were joshing me or just figured I'd take care of it if I cared.

These problems have left me bitter...but I still love my KJ

im not sure how your going to get those very large, heavy, rock like groceries on top of your jeep.. but hey if they were 1/2 off it's worth it.

Most likely broke the shaft. Most TJs and all YJs come factory with a Dana 35 rear axle, and that is their main weakness. The shafts break and the housings bend over time, and if those survive the R&P, bearings, and/or carrier will blow. It's a fine axle up to 31", decent at 33"s if you don't lock it, but when you build the jeep bigger the axle becomes a time bomb. No big deal, there are plenty of other choices that can be swapped in for a few grand, or less if you have welding skills. A TJ Dana 44 will be my choice when I find a deal on one.

As far as a KJ wheeling heavily and still staying reliable... I think the main reason this is possible (if it even is possible) is because the IFS doesn't allow for larger tires. Even the most hardcore XJ guys will admit that you can't wheel them much and expect them to provide reliable DD service. Unibody rigs simply don't hold up over time.

Rich snapped off the axle in the differential on a D-44, powerered by a 4-banger. He actually had a spare axle with him to swap out on the trail, talk about prepared.

don't have a lot of places to "wheel" b/c i live in Oklahoma, just a lotta dirt roads and a few down trees to roll over.
