Sounds really easy! I think I'll use this trick the next time I have to drain the radiator / block.

Yesterday, I bought ZEREX G-05 and filled up to COLD line, this afternoon, it is back down to the bottom again. After further inspection:

What is this? A crack!?
I checked, it is not from the Hose. Hoses seem to be pretty secure.

PS: Here is an HOW TO for Flushing the coolant:

Hard to tell from those pics, but if the hoses look ok I would say the rad is cracked..

Wonder if the power train warranty covers that?

Its a common thing on the libertys. Water pumps, rear calipers(Ive changed one), window regulars, and balljoints(changed those too).. Just to name a few others.

Raditors and water pumps are not a common thing for liberty's,failures happen,a few here and a few there is not a common trait for a vehicle with over a million sold.

The plastic tanks on the raditor is sort of a problem for any vehicle made after '96.A big cause for cracking is torsional flex of the unibody and to rigid of bushings holding the raditor in.

Oh and the raditor is not part of the powertrain warrenty.

Just to update

I called Amsoil with my dad's ZO # and asked about their antifreeze's compatibility. They were aware of the issues with certain other all makes all models antifreeze's due to an additive package. They say Amsoil Antifreeze is the perfectly compatible with our 3.7's and CRD's. So whether you till think GO5 is the best or not, being an Amsoil family and having 4 gallons of it in the basement. Amsoil is what is now going into mine.

Have any users encountered any problems?
Dave
