This has been discussed a few times, This isn't a warranty issue, it's a non-official recall (not safety related) but due to known problems with the regulators

it's a Chrysler move to maintain some customer relations without dumping a bunch of money that they don't have

basically, unless you instruct the dealer correctly, the dealer will either not know... due to .. not knowing.. or at least pretend to not know cause they're a stealership

I confirmed this myself by talking to Chrysler myself, and have advised multiple people who ALL came back from dealerships with FREE regulators paid for by CHRYSLER.

If your regulator fails or is in the process of failing, go to A dealer, notify them that your window regulator is failing or has failed, that it is a widespread problem known by Chrysler and that the DEALER needs to file a service ticket with Chrysler

Once Chrysler confirms with the dealer you can make your appointment for the service, it usually takes 1-2 business days for the Chrysler to Dealer ticket process

the parts Chrysler is willing to cover is for replacement with the normal regulator, not the unit that requires replacement of the window

this has been confirmed for all KJ year models, regardless of # of owner and regardless of any warranty

I've either gone with them, take it in myself for them while they were at work, or guided them by phone for 7 different vehicles, only one of which was the original owner and only two of which had any sort of warranty, so that added with the instructions on to do this came directly from Chrysler, then you shouldn't run into any issues for any reason

This post was very helpful! One rear glass fell and the other won't move at all.

And as soon as we started to get the ball rolling on finding parts, etc, we received a notification from Chrysler (2 days ago) that our 2006 Liberty window warrantee would be extended to 7/70! Cool.

Thanks a lot for this information. We attempted to go to our local dealer before the notice came, but they no longer handle Jeep. So before we looked further the notice came. Now we can get it handled and I hope they have improved the parts.

If your vehicle is covered it will have a X27 code when the dealer runs your VIN.

I received a letter today stating that the 7 yr warranty period is being extended from the date of service, for 7 yrs, and I'm the 2nd owner. It also stated I just need to go to the dealership with the letter, if I have any issues, and the dealership will look into the regulators and replace them if they need to be, free of charge.. I'm happy, even though I do not have any issues to date. :D

Yep, I got my letter today! :pepper:

I posted this in another thread also but here is the experience that I had in dealing with both Chrysler and my local dealer:

I called Chrysler Customer Support about it. They reimbursed me $391 for my first repair and called me back to say that the second would be covered under the new extended warranty. I called the dealership and they told me the repairs would be covered. When I brought it in on 12/29, they said that the repairs were not covered because my VIN was not listed in the Warranty. The warranty is numbered X27 that states in bold and underlined that it is for select 2006 and 2007 models. I called Chrysler again and they told me that it was covered and to have the repairs made. I tell the dealer what they said, and the service manager and I speak to Customer Support together. Chrysler first tells the Service Manager that it is an authorized warranty repair, so he asks who is going to pay for it. She then tells him that I should pay for the repair and see about a possible reimbursement later, if I qualify. I told her that I refuse to pay for a repair that I was told four different times was covered. She said that they would issue a PA (Prior Authorization) for the repair and call to inform me when to bring it in to the dealer. Needless to say that I have not heard back from either one and my window is still not fixed.
