Fulltimer

I missed the RV show this year in which they introduced the new Forest River r-pod. Overall, I’m very impressed with their design. My favorite model is the RP-175 with the queen bed and slide out.

Length: 18'2"
Weight: 2335 lbs
Load Capacity 1399 lbs
Fully self-contained (36 gallons fresh, 30 gallons grey, 30 gallons black)

The slide out makes a world of difference, the queen is a must for my wife and I and our two Chihuahuas that sleep with us. As with most lightweight trailers, I can’t get passed the single axle. If I were going to tow primarily with the KJ, then the RP-175 would definitely be in the top running position for the most affordable and well-equipped camper on the market. Terry, also check out their sidewall insulation, I think they have 2” inch sidewall versus the traditional 1” inch.

Your right on all accounts. PLUS........you can get a LIFT KIT for it! :D Your looking at the same model as I am. The lift kit looks to be 3 or 4", maybe more and it is so the little camper can be taken off road. I haven't checked out the tire situation yet. With the wheels setting outside the camper walls tire height is only restricted by the small fenders. That shouldn't be a problem.

My only complaint is the single axle. Those single axles can get a little squirrelly at higher speeds in high wind or if the road is uneven or bumpy. Plus, when those little tires blow, they don’t give you much time before those rims are on the ground. I’m probably a little harder on campers than most people, I take them off the beaten path probably more than most. With the dual axles, I don’t have near the problem with blow outs. Plus, a tire is much easier to change on a dual axle than a single axle. Other than that, I think the r-pod is pretty sweet. And like I said, if the KJ was my primary tow vehicle then I would probably have to go with a single axle to keep with light weight camper. Keep us updated!

FYI - a long drive from Florida - but the price might pay for the drive

$12,995 seems to be posted on a lot of places. One place in Ohio was cheaper but that was because of the shipping charges. They are closer to IN than TX or FL. Maybe an e-mail to the factory to see what they would charge for a pick up at the factory. Some RV companies allow it some don't. Besides it would be fun taking a factory tour and see how they make it. I went on a factory tour of Newmar Corp and was really impressed on how the motor homes are made.
