I don't think I have really liked any of the rear bumpers that have been out. They just didn't look "right" to me.

This one hits the nail on the head! Great job man!

Maybe I should jam on my brakes on I-75's morning commute tomorrow so I can get one ;)

Beautiful.

Maybe I missed it but what does it all weigh as seen in the pics minus the tire, gas can?

Very nice. This may have been addressed in here, but is there a hold-open provision for the swing arm?

We tried to get them matching. Originally we tried to get powder to match the ARB...that was a joke, and expensive. Then we tried to work out the logistics on getting the front bumper coated when the rear got coated, and installs and all...just couldn't happen. I think Matt is planning to do it soon.

Right now it is an extremely beefy 90 to 100 lbs for the bumper and the arm. Everything is either 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" or 1" thick. For the next prototype, I'm going to be reducing the side portions to be 3/16, as well as the area's under the tail lights. On the arm I'm going to change everything to be 3/16 except for the main horizontal bar. Between this, relying less on water jet cutting, and by cutting most of the parts out of extruded flat instead of rolled plate, I'm hoping to knock several hundred dollars off the cost of the materials and labor, as well as reducing the weight to about 80-85 lbs.

At least if you ever crash you can recycle my bumper for a pretty penny...

Yes. There is a spring loaded pin with a ball knob that runs in a bore welded to the knuckle. If you really squint, you can't see it because it isn't on there yet....Luckily Matt is a pretty mellow guy and forgave me for missing a few parts still (that pin, towhitch shackle mount, and for losing one of his fender bolts.) We were scrambling to get all of our machining done months ago, and it slipped my mind that that one hadn't been finished yet until the night before the install.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. I really like it and am excited to get one on my Liberty. I need to figure out some unique thing to add to mine though...

I truly love they way it looks but I think the carrier should swing in the opposite direction. Don't listen to me though, I can't afford one anyway! :(

Abso-freaking-lutely awesome bumper! I am definitely getting one! Let me know when they are actually available for production.

OK, let's talk specs now that you have the bumper effectively "up and running." If I already have a tow receiver hitch, will your bumper without the integrated hitch fit on the back without any issues?

It will fit with the mopar one pretty tightly. As far as what you have, I have no clue. If we get to that point we can take measurements of your hitch and see what can be done.

Be warned though, your hitch might hang way below the bottom of the bumper.

Not an issue. I have a U-haul receiver and would be glad to take measurements. But, then again, if your bumper realistically (IE: regardless of the DOT regulatory mumbo-jumbo) can pull a 2000# trailer off-road, I may be inclined to just get the one fitted with the bumper.

...And then we need to discuss the Military/repeat buyer discount! :ROTFL:

I have to keep wiping my chin off! Drooling all over the place! Tell me the dent in the tail gate is NOT from the bumper swing arm. Or any other part of this beauty.

My theory in having it swing the way it did was that you'd have a wider approach to the cargo area if only one side had a "wall" (read: arm or gate) in the way. Swinging the other way would leave you with a tunnel like approach with a big or awkward item. Not a big deal but the arm swings completely out of the way of the tailgate, so it is out of the loading area totally.

Looks good. Looks very much like the Rock Lizard bumper (with a little difference to it) but since he isn't making them......

Thanks for being the few that are making parts for the KJ.

There are more differences between mine as his than there are between either of ours and numerous wrangler bumpers. Maximize clearances from exit angle and wheel path, cover up all of the body, and presto, this is what you get.
