Fairing making noise at higher speeds.

I don't see many vehicles with fairings but maybe someone has an idea. I have a Yakima Low Rider system with cross bars. They are awesome. I love the fact that I can put just about anything on them I want. I have two full sheets of plywood on top of my liberty with no problems. I installed a fairing so it wouldn't sound like a werewolf was on my roof when I was up to highway speed. The only problem is the howling is gone but you can hear the fairing bump the top of the roof every now and then. Especially if it's windy. Here's what I got

It's installed correctly. I wonder if anyone else has had problems keeping the bottom down at speed...any suggestions on how to keep the bottom on contact with the roof? Thanks.

I don't have one on my KJ, but the only thing I can think of is find some way to tighten it down a little and see if that helps or macgyver some rubber on the part that is hitting to soften the blow.

there are foam pads on the bottom where they contact the roof. I have it tightened (really, really tight) and angle downward but there is still some slack in the middle where some wind could move it just a little bit. I have thought about running some sort of small bungee cord in the center from the bottom...maybe I'll try it.

I had the same problem-I ended up using some foam tape on the bottom of each corner where the fairing would touch the roof during high speeds/winds and I haven't had the problem come back,I liked the old larger fairing I had before but it has to be trimed to fit,Also I've noticed the thule fairing has built in rubber on the corners..

I retightened everything down added some black zip ties...it's not moving anywhere. I hit the interstate and it's WORSE! I remebered what you just wrote about the CORNERS. It's not the feet that are moving but the bottom corners. Thanks...I just need to find some sticky black rubber.

I used a thin foam tape thats used in the HVAC trades as insulation,it stays put and quiets the corners well,you can inform yakima and maybe they can provide some help,They have a 800 number and should be able to do something..

I have a Thule fairing. Same deal. I've just gotten used to it over the years. I think they all make noise no matter what vehicle. They will bounce unless you fasten them to the roof.

You could try running a strip of aluminum along the bottom edge of the fairing. You could either bolt in on or try and find a adhesive that would work...
