Post subject:  Jeep Service Manuals on CD and Windows XP

I ordered a couple of service manuals on CD the Yesterday and I received a call from the dealership today informing me that the CD's could not be used with Windows XP. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Why wouldn’t it be compatible? :?

Maybe when they were produced XP wasn't out yet. Could be XP just isn't listed.

The service manuals are just PDFs on a disc, they should work fine in anything. Maybe there's some "installer" or "autoplay" junk that doesn't work properly. Pretty sure you'll still be able to just open the PDF files no prob.

I have the PDF of the '03 KJ Service Manual on a flash disk in my pocket!
Never leave home without it. I use Foxit Reader to view it. No problem on XP, Win2K or Win98.

How much are the manuals on CD?

Thanks for all the info everyone my suspicions are now are heightened that the personnel in DC’s publishing division have no real clue as to what works and what doesn’t. I should be able to confirm if they work or not when I receive the CDs. It just doesn’t make sense to me that they would work on Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT but not XP.

My wife paid 150.00 for each of them at the dealership but in my frantic search of the web to find out if they were compatible I found a couple of sites that had them cheaper (around 120.00) additionally they were selling 2 other manuals one was a wiring diagram and the other covered diagnostic procedures and tests.

Anything that works on 2000 will work on XP, as they are essentially the same OS, XP only has more "features."

They are all over the place. You used to see them on eBay all the time for like $20 or so, but those were just people copying the CDs and reselling them (not cool to make money off stealing stuff. It's one thing to give away stuff like that for free, but profiting from it is extra-wrong)
