I had a few problems last night. It took forever to load the first couple threads I tried to read and then just kept coming up with the website unavailable screen. Other than that I like the new site just fine.

I noticed this last night, and have noted it a few times before as well. I wasn't sure if there was a scheduled back-up in the wee-wee hours or what. Other than that the site is rockin' and rollin'...

No, that would be a fantastically naive way to do backup. MySQL can do hot backup easier than that. Besides, a simple mysqldump is very quick to do, and doesn't need the site to be offline. When the site was unavailable to me, it was more like the whole machine just went down, not just Apache.

The site rocks boys. As for comparing this to EZ, it's like "switching" from the "darkside".

Good work.

Lest people think I do nothing but gripe :D I love this new board. However since my day job is systems administration, I get picky about things like uptime, availability and little gremlins in general. This site is far far better than the EZboard it's not a fair comparison.

Also, it's much much better than many other similar sites around, so, don't let my nitpicks bother you :D They're just that ... me zeroing in on potential trouble spots.

I get occational Red [x] for avatars, and some pictures in the pages. When this happens, it's not the same pictures or hosted on the same places. I.e. My avatar was messed up red x and anothers on the same page was not, but we were both hosted from cardomain. After say 15min or so, everything was back in order.

The [x] for avatars and pictures are not this board's problem for the most part (unless you're using site-hosted avatars), since they just refer to off-site images anyway, via tags, so it's probably your route to the destination site at the time.

Another reason for the [x] is some sites will check the referrer and refuse to give you the pictures. I guess they do this to prevent cross-site linking. If you can right-click and view picture, then when you come back to this site and refresh, you'll see the picture (because it's now in the cache). Some sites do silly things, what can I say? :D
