Hello Everyone,

My New '05 Renegade has a clicking noise in the steering column. 1 or 2 clicks per turn. It happens more after sitting in the sun and seems to happen at different positions while steering. Funny thing is... I had a Jeep Commanche 4x4 that I think had the same clicking.

Do all KJ's or Jeeps have this noise? Or, am I crazy? Any ideas what is causing it or how to fix it?

Christopher

Is this the mechanism that .. you know .. releases the lock on the turn-signal lever?

If it is the turn signal mech... It is happening when the signal is not being used. It will click once or twice just by turning the wheel from side to side. I think it has gotten quiet'er over the last couple of weeks. My Renny was manufactured 6/05.

My 97 TJ did the same thing, the turnsignal switch/lever assembly had popped loose.
should be an easy warranty item to get it replaced

I had that on 2002 kj. The dealer said it was a broken steering column. They took in and it was clicking, I got back and it wasn't. That's all I know :)
