Two items to read about: The coming news...

First item:
OK guys...A few of you might have noticed that the site does not want to open pacific time between say 9 and 11 pm every now and then. We have been tracking this and Heather called the server company at 10 pm Thursady night to get this taken care of. This should be taken care of in the next day or so.

Seems that the hosting company was doing their server maintenance around 2 am Eastern time...It was so nice to be able to get on the phone...call and talk to someone at 10 pm pacific time and get some action...Man this is just a great upgrade from our old site. The new hosting company is just outstanding...And Heather...we we could not have done all this without her. Wait till you guys see what she has done with the web section.

Second item: Speaking of the new website...

Heather and I had a chance to sit down tonight for a few hours and go over a lot of the final details for the web site section. I have provided the text she needed from me for the final few pages we have been working on and Heather has all the flash done but just needs to tweak in a few links that are not connected yet. She has done an outstanding job on this and man I think it is going to blow a lot of folks away. We are hoping to have everything done hopefully be next weekend.

We said even before we opened the new forum that we were going to have a new look and believe me...The new web section will live up to that for dang sure...

Just a little bit of testing to be sure it all works right and then we turn it on. It will never be a completed project because we already know of the many new features, stories, tech articles, special feature Jeeps, and things like that we are add in the future.

It's really been a lot of work but things are working as planned with out any big problems and then you guys will have an entire new section to check out. The web section will only have 4 or 5 pages linked from the flash at first but more to come. We are just getting the main structure up and running ...be sure it all works good... and then add more pages and sections to it.

Just bare with us when we first turn it on and we will be adding stuff very fast after we see everyone is up and running without any problems. Keep in mind we did a lot of testing on the forum to be sure it was right and we are going to do the same thing for the web section.

You guys will reap the benefit of all the testing that you will never see to be sure this all works right before it is ever turned on.

We had a few guys already see a beta version of it and do a little testing to check out different browers and things like that. If any of them have any comments about what they have seen they can post it here. All I ask is they dont give away what will be coming on line very soon. Don't want to give away anything yet.

Just trying to keep everyone posted and up to date. later...Clint

From experience with my maintenance of townsendsociety.org, a deep a complex site, I'd suggest a small banner on the home page that contains a brief note on when and what was changed added. This will help the viewer with limited time in finding the new stuff.

Right now the only thing I can add is for those member's who are Mac User's, specifically OS X.

I've seen the beta site using Mac OS X 4.2 Tiger. I surfed the site using both Safari and Firefox. Everything worked flawlessly! Kinda like you've come to expect from Jobs & Co. So not to worry, your going to enjoy the new site once Heather & Co have it completed!

Edit: I should add in our office, I have two iMac G5's, a new PowerBook (15",) all running Tiger on a wireless network (via cable modem). As long as your running OS X (Jaguar, Panther or the new Tiger OS, and have the latest version of flashplayer installed), you're good to go.

I just wanna say how much I appreciate all the hard work that's going into this. I've done many web sites as well - and I know the time, effort and creativity that goes into something like this. Heather, Clint and anyone else involved - your efforts are GREATLY apprciated. AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FINAL RESULT!

About all I can say about the Beta site, is that those behind the creation are pretty darn creative. When it finnally makes it's debut all of those that havent seen it yet will be amazed how far we have come from the sleazyboard! We definately have some enthusiasts around these parts. Keep up the good work Guys and Gals!
