| Post subject: | ABS, ESP and Traction lights... |
I have had these 3 lights come on a few times in the last couple weeks... One time there was bumps on the road and such which could have caused this I guess... Two other times I was just accelerating on the highway... I had just gone around a 270 degree onramp but i dont think that should have triggered traction control / ESP / etc... Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am going to try and bring the Renny into the dealership next week... |

If it was raining then I could see a reason for it to come on. I was pulling a boat and started up a small hill from a parking lot and almost didnt make it in the rain. I also have a rear locker. |

I would not worry about it. The different systems that constitute ESP are very intelligent. They likely noed wheel spin, or partial wheel lift that was imperceptible to you and adjusted for it. that is what they are supposed to do. The type of driving that you describe could certainly trigger them. |

Don't worry about it. It's working perfectly fine. |

I'm not familiar with Jeeps ESP but most of those systems also take lateral Gs and steering/throttle/brake input into account and apply inside brakes in hard turns to prevent getting to the point of lifting or spinning a tire. It helps pull the vehicle through the turn somewhat. I'd expect it to come into play on on-ramps and the like the way I drive even though the tires aren't squealing. |

The othe thing that will cause that is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). Check the connetion to verify it is tight and clean. |

Just a follow-up on this... I was taking the KJ in for its 10,000 KM oil change and the trio of lights came on again on the way there!!! So I had the service guy take a look... After the oil change the service guy phones me back and tells me i have a defective rear ABS sensor... Moral of the story.... Just the Traction control light flashing = good! Means the system is working... ABS, ESP and Traction lights on = see your stealership! Shadow! |

i took my KJ in for some stuff, and i noticed there was a wire running through the wheel well that was loose. Anyways, I asked the guy what it was, and he tried to tell me that it was the wire for the traction control system. Glad to know my 04 has the advanced technology too lol |
