all the service intervals are just a check up just to make sure that nothing is visibly wrong. They do that for two reasons: 1: you just spend x amount on a brand new car and 6000 miles later they notice a bad something or other. The customer is alot happier when a problem is found at the dealership rather than on the side of the road. 2: Warranty work is the staple of the techs workload. If they can find a seal seaping, bushings going bad etc. that's money in thier pockets.
