Random "DINGING" on an 06?

Driving home tonight, all of a sudden my Jeep started to make a random "DINGING" sound. (Similar to when you leave your lights on or the key in the ignition) I immediately looked at the dash and NO warning lights or gauges out of the ordinary. Also checked the odometer (like when it says "glass" "door" gate") and nothing there either. The ding happened at pretty steady intervals 3 times in about 5 minutes. Does anyone have ANY thoughts as to what this could be?

I am not sure about the opptions an what they are all called but I do know that on our '03 limited with the compas thingy above the rearview mirror when we come due for an oil change it will ding at start up and also right at the miles so maby that or it could be low fuel warning but that has a light too
other than that if it stops then I would not worry about it the jeep may have just been getting tired?

Yes, I was wearing my seatbelt... I suppose that would be the first thing that came to mind... but it was on and there was no red seatbelt guy light on the dash

I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!

I was STARRING at my odometer waiting for it to ding while I was stopped at a red light and all of a sudden "GASCAP" came up on the odometer! I must not have had it on tight enough. Thanks to EVERYONE for all of their thoughts and suggestions! I really appreciate it!

WHAT?!? It told you your gas cap wasnt on tight enough! Thats crazy awesome! I guess thats something new for 06 or 05?

Usually the check engine light comes on when that happens.

yea I know, it throws a code saying you have a small leak in the evap system. Never heard of it telling you the gas cap is loose though. :lol:
