| Post subject: | Lightbar installation |
Has anyone actually gotten a quote from the dealer for the total cost of a lightbar install? I'm interested in getting one, but with drilling through the roof being required, I'd rather be able to point the finger at the dealership if something goes wrong. |

Not me but I talked to a guy who's uncle knew a dude that had the bar installed for a little over $300. It's not cheap. |

Suggested Retail for the part number 82206126AB Renegade style light bar is $449.00 and it lists an install time of 1.5 hours. If you know what the labor rate is for your local dealer then it is easy to figure a total cost for the part and install. |

Just talked to the local dealer. They offered to do the job for 555, parts labor and all. I think I see if they'll install it if I provide the parts from, say, Jparts. |

hey man, I did my own install. I had asked the dealer what it would cost to do the labor only. They told me could be eith 2 or 4 hours at 75.00 an hour. That is not encluding any sealent, and any wire caps that they might need along the way. It took me about 2 hours or just alittle over 2 hours to do mine and it came out awsome. If you take your time, it will be kool man. If you mess up, they sell bondo....... |

I just got my lightbar installed at the dealer because I was afraid of drilling into the roof and having something leak. It only cost me $165. The MOPAR Parts Book says that it takes 1.5 hours, but all 3 dealers quoted me at 2-3 hours... It takes them about that much time to have a normal service tech work on it vs the time in the book is for someone who is fluent in installation of the light bar. Either way I feel that it was WAY worth it... Its warrantied for 3yr/36000 at ANY Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler dealership! Good luck with it man! |

Hold on a sec. The actual warranty from Mopar is as follows: Quote: MOPAR Accessories, Audio Products and Electronic Accessories installed on a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle by an authorized Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge dealer are covered by the 12-month/12,000-mile MOPAR Basic Limited Warranty, or by the remainder of the 3-year/36,000-mile Basic New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever is more favorable to the customer.

The actual warranty that I have that is stated on my service write up for the installation of the light bar is 3yr/36,000 miles. My Jeep only has 7,000 Miles on it so I have nothing to worry about. I would seriously look at getting the light bar installed at a dealer, it seemed worth it to me! |

I personally think doing stuff yourself is the best way. That way you are aware of anything that has happened.... I used to work at a car electronics shop as an installer. You wouldn't believe the kind of crap that gets covered up and given a "warenty" Like it was said, there's always bondo. |

Yea man I know what you meen.I know that things happen and can get covered up very easy, and who is to say that they did something to fix it from future leaking and stuff like that. At least if i mess it up, I will fix the mistake before i continue with the job and make sure it was done rite...... I don't like the feeling as I pull away from an installers place and thinking that every thing looks good and stuff, mean while the people that are looking at you leaving saying poor guy, he has no idea what we did. |
