Post subject:  OEM UPPER BALL JOINT NUT

is there supposed to be a cotter pin on the upper BJ nut to stop it from loosening and falling off?

No, the stock nuts are locking nuts. If you get an after market A-arm from Jeepin Al then yes it should. The stock are do however not have them.

thanks, the stock nut turned like 1.5-2 complete turns, then jammed and would not move. then ball joint unseated and just started spinning. Had to hold the end of the BJ 10mm (broke 3 10mm sockets, heated etc. and finally was able to retighten the nut)

But the nut just wont come off!

Ohh, that sucks just a tad. I found out the hard way that those nuts are easy to cross thread. Maybe it was cross threaded from the factory or something? If you have a dremel, you could cut the nut off. Be very careful with those threads unless you plan on replacing the A-arms with new ones or something.
