I wasn't sure if I should post this in "Sightings" or in "Mid-Atlantic L.O.S.T." so I decided to place it here. :)

There was a police chase involving a KJ this morning in New Jersey! Some guys went on a car theft spree and eventually took off from the cops in the Liberty. But alas, as all police chases do, they got caught.

Click HERE to see the video from the ABC affiliate. (NOTE: the video will be online until 22 Aug 2005)

They even did a little "off-roadin" in it.

Oh I'd love to see it! But their site isn't linux-friendly :-(

Can anyone post a link to the video?

Would have been funny, if it wasn't for the kid in the back seat.

Dudes need to be castrated. If we're lucky, they'll do us a favour and remove themselves from the gene pool one of these days. At least they didn't take the car with the kid on the chase.

So, the Liberty hauled butt huh? :D I drive my wife's Libby (4x2) rather spiritedly but not like that. Nice to know it could, though. Oh and after changing out the stock tires for a Revo, it really changed the personality.

I thought (from reading the text) that the kid was in the first car they carjacked. They then abandoned that car when they realized the kid was in the backseat. Somehow they got the Liberty (wasn't explained in the text).

I can't really turn up the volume here so I'm probably missing a lot of the commentary.

There wasn't any child in the Liberty.. the child was in the Gallant that they stole, but quickly abbonded once they realized there was a child in the back seat. My quesiton is, who the hell leaves they're car running in the street with their kid in the back in New Jersey?!

The one with the lady who accidentally locked her child in the Audi and then refused to let the emergency crew break a window to get it out, even though it was almost 90 deg. outside amazes me.. That kid probably would have been dead by the time she got back from getting the spare keys.. then you KNOW she would have tried to sue anyone within shouting distance.

As for the woman who put her kids in the trunk.. I had to laugh.. We actually did that once when I was a little kid.. of course, it wasn't hot out and we actually fought over who got to ride in the trunk and it wasn't a very long trip.

Sheesh, I am glad I live in the middle of no where sometimes. I am happy that the kid is okay.

Not that it matters, but I'm pretty sure she said "navy blue."

indeed she did, but thats not the point.

I'd still love to know how they stole the KJ....probably broke in, but how did they hot wire it? Or maybe it was LEFT RUNNING like the gallant was? Only time I leave mine running is in the winter out in the driveway while i'm brushing my teeth before work. I'll pull it out of the garage and give it a minute or so to warm up a tad.

Because it's pre-05, it's not going to have sentry key universally. There's a chance the owner might have opted for sentry key option, but more likely than not, it doesn't have it.
