Anyone Know of any reason (problems) I might run into when I swap axles from Dana 35 to 8.25 corp...I Have good mech skills and tools.

Gonna get an ARB or detroit tru-trac...I'm a sissy and can't take this No-slip any more. :?:

1997 and newer Chrysler 8.25 axles have 29 splines.
Dana 35c axles have 27 splines, in some rare cases they have 30.

You will need to swap the carrier in the 8.25 with a pre 1997 which accepts 27 spline axles.

Seems like a lot of trouble to swap in what most people believe is a weaker axle.

I believe that he would be swapping an entire 8.25 assembly for the D35 assembly...I don't know, but the attachement points are probably the same whichever way you would be going...that would seem to be the biggest challange...

If you're going to do the swap then why not go up to a D44 or a D60? The 60 is probably overkill, and the 44 is only a little better than the 8.25", but you can probably find a 44 for cheaper than the 8.25".

This is a very confusing post. From what i can figure out the1jferg has a 4x2 Libby with a D35 in the rear. He wants to rent a 4x4 Libby and exchange the 8.25 rear end with his D35 and then return it.

Please tell me I am wrong.

Yes,

That was my point. I Don't have to rent the 4x4 though as pretty much all of them now have the 8.25.

I am not the kinda person to really do this. MANY people do rent vehicles for parts.

I'll buy mine new or from the boneyard. :)
