I know the back door is 20%, so the back window could be the same, maybe 15% though. |

I do beleive it's 20%. I don't think anything darker from the factory is legal anywhere. I tinted the front driver and pass. doors with 20% and it matches all around. Hope this helped... |

I got my front tinted at 35% and they match very very close, it seems like the rears are slightly darker, but it is not noticible to anyone except myself. I think I am going to get a 5% tint ontop of the factory tint in the rear, (minus the rear tailgate glass) and leave the front two at 35% and nothing on windshield. |

Go to reputable Tint shop and have them mark on the reciept that your tint is within legal limits. Then keep a copy in glove box. It saves alot of hassles. |

NJ sucks with the tinting laws. here's a link to the different states. It says none for the front sides and visor. http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html I guess it might depend on how much of a jerk the cop is that pulls you over too...haha. |

Right from NY DMV site itself: Quote: Section 375 (12-a) of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law does not allow a windshield or front side windows that are dark. The windshield and front side windows cannot block more than 30% of the light. Seventy percent or more of the light from the outside must pass through the window. This law also applies to rear windows unless the vehicle has outside rear-view mirrors on both sides. The mirrors must give the driver a full and clear view behind the vehicle. It is illegal to sell, offer for sale, or install glass that does not comply with this law. It is illegal to operate a vehicle with glass that does not comply with this law. If a medical condition requires a person to have tinted vehicle windows, they can request an exemption from the law. Request form MV-80W from a DMV Office or Call Center. However, If you quote the actual statute thus: Quote: (b) No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any public highway, road or street:
(1) the front windshield of which is composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent unless such materials are limited to the uppermost six inches of the windshield; or (2) the sidewings or side windows of which on either side forward of or adjacent to the operator`s seat are composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent; or (3) if it is classified as a station wagon, sedan, hardtop, coupe, hatchback or convertible and any rear side window has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent; or (4) the rear window of which is composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent. A rear window may have a light transmittance of less than seventy percent if the vehicle is equipped with side mirrors on both sides of the vehicle so adjusted that the driver thereof shall have a clear and full view of the road and condition of traffic behind such vehicle. You will notice #3. It says nothing about SUVs!! An oversight? a loophole?? Because if we are classified as any of those things in (3) then we can't have tinted side rear windows!?! Hmmmm..... |

I concur with the previous statement (wow that sounded REALLY lawyer like!!) In WA St. (there are a few of us up here on this forum I think) You can have the rear windows 20% and the front ones 35%. However, the police up here are pretty easy to convince that your vehicle "came that way from the dealer" and they usually don't give you a fix-it ticket. |

SW as in Station Wagon? If so, at least call it a "SPORT WAGON" like everyone does these days, like that kick-ass dodge Magnum with a Hemi... *drool* but I digress... |
