To me, my 05 Liberty has TOO GOOD of a throttle respone. It seems the TSP is set TOO "TIGHT" and the throttle responds quickly with VERY minimal input.

I'm considering backing off the TSP a bit.

What's your throttle response like with the 3.7L ?

It is easier to get a better headrest :)

Just imagine this, I went from a 1992 VW Diesel Golf (not the turbo) to the
2002 Liberty Sport. WOW Did I have a heavy foot or what. Now there's
some difference. Our heads in the Jeep flew back a couple of times.

:lol:and :oops:and

FWIW, 4.10s are only available with the 2.4L.

 Not when you get the Auto with the 3.7 Sport 2WD... if you don't believe me, go check the build sheet yourself. Her's came with the 4.10 gearing per the spec sheet.

The build sheet for all KJs shows the 4.10s, but when you add the 3.7L it changes them to 3.73s (or in the case of '05s you may get 3.55s.)

I'm not saying it's not possible (as we've seen a 6cyl KJ with a D35 rear end so anything is possible,) but it's not normal.

I've owned tons of vehicles, and I've always HATED the throttle response on my wife's Libby 3.7L. If you even feather the pedal her Jeep will take off like a house on fire. It's very very touchy. Which is a real pain in the *** when driving in town. I think the torque converter on the tranny is setup all wrong on them too. So I totally agree...driving the V6 Liberty is a total PITA compared to every other vehicle I've been in. I don't blame you a bit for trying to change it.

I'm sure glad my Jeep CRD has a different tranny and throttle system. I would have never bought it if it was like my wife's V6. Geez...

I think maybe you're not hearing me... FOR THE YEAR 2005 2WD VERSIONS WITH THE 3.7L engine THEY GET THE 4.10 GEARING. Go build one yourself on www.jeep.com if you don't believe me... NOW... if you get the 4x4 they switch to the 3.55 gearing. Don't take my word for it.... go to Jeep and build one yourself each way and you'll see. Take my word for it, there's a NOTICEABLE difference in acceleration between mine and my wife's.

The checkox shows 4.10, but if you click on the engine it will say "3.73 axle ratio" if you have the automatic selected, or "3.55 axle ratio" if you have the 6 speed manual selected.

The same misleading info was there during '03 and '04 model years.

If your Libby accelerates slower than your wife’s, then put her in your driver’s seat.

 I do drive more slowly than she does, but that's not what I mean... LOL

FreedomKJ, maybe you're right and they just have it posted poorly? Dunno. I do know that on her spec sheet (from when we bought the vehicle) it states 4.10... :?: It sure as heck accelerates more readily than mine... whether it's because of less weight (no 4WD) or axle ratio or some other reason I don't know.

Most likely it's a combination of added weight (you probably have skid plates as well, which I'm sure her's does not) and power loss due to more components in the drivetrain.

LOL!!

I've BEEN THERE!! I used to own a 82 Diesel Rabbit many moons ago. Wish I had it now for my LONG commute!!

I know what you mean be NO throttle response! The base 1.6L VW diesel engine had a whole 52 Horsepower!!

I used to have a Civic ... man, it felt good moving to my wife's Renegade. It just needed a little coaxing to get going (but much quicker if you turn O/D off) but once the torque converter locks, watch out :D It handled like a dream, considering its shape and weight. I'm surprised it can be so agile. I had to manuever out of a collision once (some dude didn't look where he was going and ran the light, we were crossing the intersection at 45-50MPH, Fresno) and it was like a quick left and a quick right (to avoid the median )

Loved the handling of a stock 2WD. My lifted KJ, that's a little iffy.
