OK, I only had 2 car lengths in front of me, but I this was were a 3 lane I-70 meets with 2 lane I-675 and becomes... a busy 3 lane I-75 - not much choice. Some semi had lost what looked like (I only saw it for a fraction of a second) part of a metal air intake (4" metal tube, 8-10" long), and with the traffic, I could only swerve a little. I ended up hitting the thing and shooting it into the median, but it was a mighty hit - the Tire Pressure light shot on. I merged over to she side of the road and walked around to the front right tire - and it looked OK; so did the back. I drove down to the next exit and pulled into a flat parking lot. By now the tire was almost totally flat. No problem - I got out the trusty DCX jack and took it to it's max. BUT, the jack wasn't designed for a lifted libby - it was at least 1 to 1.5" short! Fortunatly, the guys at Grainger had some extra 2x2 that I used to build a base - the rest of the change was text book. It turns out that the little swerve I did was enough to pop the bead, but not slice the tire - just a scuff! So I plan to air it up again after I have it inspected. The moral of this post is: Until you get a Hi-Lift jack for your lifted libby, put a 2x4 or 2x6 under the seat next to the jack - you may need it. |

is the pressure warning an option or is it factory standard? may have been the exhaust stack. |

may have been the exhaust stack. I didn't ask for it, so it mght have been in one of my packages or in the base - IDK for sure. Exhaust stack - sure, it could have been. I was just getting ready for explosive decompression on the front tire |

Its stock on 05-06 libbys(maybe only 06 libbys). It doesnt tell you the pressures but will tell you when you have a low tire. Its still an option if you want to see the pressures.. Edit: anyway, I forgot to say that the stock jack doesnt even work on my 1.5in OME lift.. I need to throw a 2x4 in there or something.. |

Did you try using it under the A-arm? I would have figured that would work for a tire change, but it might not be stable enough. On a side note, the OEM jack is junk, I twisted mine to hell trying to change a tire halfway up a ledge... It barely closed back. I guess I should find something to replace it before I hand the KJ over to my dad... Any recommendations? |

Yeah, it's on my 05 liberty, too, and it's included even if you don't pick the tire pressure monitoring system. |

I have used the jack only for rotating tires, you can tell it is junk the first time you use it for sure. I didnt know about this tire pressure warning thing, I need to go let some air out of a tire to see if its there, will it work if you arent moving? |

I had it on my 05 KJ RME (the tire pressure system)...I made sure all tires were to air spec and I still had the pressure warning coming on....I forgot to check the spare, it was the spare that was causing the pressure sensor to ding 10 times on my dash...It's a sensor in all of the tires that relays to the computer the pressure within them...started in 05 I'm pretty sure... |

Stock jack, though not great, is still hanging in there for me. I have removed several tires on my lifted KJ with it. You just need to put it in the right place. Under the A arms up front and under the axle tube out back. Be careful up front. The geometry of the IFS can make the jack meander a bit once it gets up a ways. |

i'll stick to the 2x6 and the skink sliders. with my luck, i'd end up with a rotor through my foot if i jacked on the IFS with the DCX jack... |

I was thinking something that's actually safe, like maybe a large bottle jack. I've only used the Hi-Lift once, and if I have a choice I'm not using it to lift the Jeep. It's more of an emergency tool for me. |

Bottle jack in the cargo area, and 48 inch Hi-Lift is under the passenger seats. Scissor jack is still under the rear seat too, in case I need to help a mall Libby |

AHHH!!! I dont even want to think about that! Shoot.... I was torquin' some nuts down to about 100 foot lbs and the crappy little DCX jack stayed in place. Maybe the jackstand I had in place helped too. OR maybe my guardian angel is pulling some OT this week. |

I'll put in a vote for the bottle jack. Definitely the tool you need for driveway work on a lifted Libby. Just gotta get some hydraulic fluid for mine since it's empty after throwing up in Ugg's garage. |
