So I was looking at my KJ today and think it might look better with a wider stance. I already have my new tires so that is not happening (buying new tires I mean). So I was wondering what everyone's thought were on getting wheel spacers? Good, Bad, Size etc.

They are ok but I would think they would put alot more wear on the ball joints. Be looking at changing those in a few k's.

What if one were to replace factory BJ's with Moogs and get spacers, would that be ok, or would it still cause more wear and earlier failure?

Yup, should be ok then. You must get Al's upper arms to get a full set of moogs.

Why do you need his upper a-arms for moogs? They dont fit into stock a-arms?

I don't think the upper arms have replacable ball joints, you buy a whole new arm/ball joint. Al's upper arms come in handy if you lift the rig as it lets you get your alignment back to specs also.

If you do not have a lift, email him and he may make a shorter set for ya.

Ball joints can be replaced on stock a-arms as well as be lifted. I have a 2.5 lift stock a-arms and perfect alignment.

The upper arm ball joints are not replaceable, you have to replace the whole arm. Al's upper arms have screw in ball joints that can be replaced if needed. Unless of course your KJ has arms w/ replaceable joints that we are not aware of?

You CAN replace ball joints on the stock a-arms. I dont know where you heard that only al's a-arms can have the ball joints replaced but you are mistaken. Ball joints need to be pressed in, that's the only difference.

Seth,
You have upper and lower A arms. The lowers have replaceable A arms, but the uppers do not. At least that's what they're talking about.

I don't think you need to worry about the ball joints. I've had spacers on for 3 years and the only BJ issues were due to the recall. Lots of people have used spacers or custom BS wheels and I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that this caused BJ problems.

I've had my Spidertrax WHS-002 spacers for 6 months now with no problems yet. If you get spacers just make sure they're hub-centric and that you use some sort of thread lock to keep them from coming loose (the Spidertrax come with this).

I run a 1/2" wheel spacers on the front and 3/8" on the rear. I put them on to make a lil' more room for my tires. It's not a lot of space, but it does give a little bit wider stance. It looks great and I have had no problems with balljoint yet. Talk to "Rocky Road Outfitters", they have a 1" spacer if you want and run them theirselves so they'd know if it stresses things. Hope this helps!
