Post subject:  Hole In Power Steering Pump Hose! WARNING

So I was on my way to the trail last week to wheel with the Rockies guys and my steering started getting super heavy. I thought it was the terrain (lots of rocks and the like). My console threw a battery light so I killed the engine and checked under the hood. Power steering fluid EVERYWHERE. After further investigation, I realized that one of the hoses from the pump was leaning agaisnt the serpentine belt. It took this long to wear a hole clean through it and drained ALL of my fluid. I had to nurse it down the mountain to get flat bedded away. The battery light was due to slippage in the serpentine belt/alternator. Anyway, just thought id put it out there so you guys can check if your KJs had the same build defect as mine. I'll try to post pics if I can get them developed anytime soon. This happen to anyone else?

Adam,

We're planning a couple more outings over the next month. Check out the Rockies forum. Would love to get you out there (minus the power steering problems).
