Oh Yeah! The base closed down due to the snow and I have a free day......a man, his Jeep, and snow......what to do, what to do........

Any suggestions?

Dave, you could drive down to the Springs so you can experience blizzard conditions considering that you're only under a winter storm warning. :roll:

You're kidding me...I drove 25 miles to work today in those "blizzard conditions" and I didn't have to use 4x4. What a bunch of pansies. :wink:

Joel, I really can't tell you how much snow is out on the roads because I can't even see the road most of the time. :shock: There is about 6" or so in the middle of the back yard and about another 6-8" on top of that against the fence. The kicker is that we had about 1" of rain just before the snow so down here there is a thick layer of ice below the snow. Makes for some great ice skating. :roll:

Man I missing out in some good weather :cry: !I love snow the worse it gets the better I like driving threw it.To bad it will be all gone when I get back there.Sadly there is no snow here back in SD,it's supposed to get in the 60's tomorrow.

We have more Texans living up here. I wouldn't want to be on the road with them.......... :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

I have watched the ambulances and fire trucks with their sirens blaring non-stop. At least six in the last hour have driven by my place.

Have fun with the snow guys! I wish I could try and break my 4 wheel drift record of 1000 ft,that ARB in the rear and TT up front I should go on forever!I love peoples faces when you pass them going sideways 8) .

As one of those Texans who lived in Woodland Park and drove up and down Ute pass every day for 3 years - I'd say the Colorado drivers aren't any better than the Texans - more 4 wheel drives and more tire chains - but no more skill.

I'd agree...problem is we have so many transplants (dang Californians :P ) here that you never can tell who is a "Colorado" driver and who is not. Overall, the folks in IL were much better in the snow than the drivers here though. If you get 2" of snow here you'd think the world was coming to an end...definitely not what I expected to find when I moved here.

I lived in Texas for two years and I saw how the guys in pickups and SUV's drove one winter day when it snowed. I saw them left and right in ditches and stuck. I was driving a Celica and made it safely to work that day. In Paris, Tx, they don't plow the roads.

One guy in a big pickup got stuck in snow in a parking lot and I tried to explain to him how to get out by rocking it back and forth. Would he listen....no, he just kept flooring ti and melted the snow under his tires all the way to the concrete and was burning his rubber off. Still stuck (it was deeeeep- to his bumper). He finally gave up on his way (15 minutes later of constantly trying the tire burn method) and tried my way and he was out in a few sways.

The problem with Denver is it is so mixed with people living there, that moved from all over the US, that it is just as dangerous on a warm sunny day.

Yeah we've had some ice/snow days every now and then in DFW, but Ive never had a problem...even in a 2WD pickup truck with an empty bed. It's just dumb people not willing to go easy and control their cars. I'll have big rigs pass me by 30 mph on the ice!

Take pictures of it all....Memphis shuts down the city at the threat of 1" of snow...its pretty funny to see the grocery stores packed the night of a supposed "winter mix"...crazy

In Memphis the big story of the day is the Manatee in the Mississippi River that is getting extracted by US Wildlife Officials and people from Sea World Orlando....supposedly going to load him in a van and drive him to Orlando...I would think FedEx would PR this and fly him down there since we are the FedEx hub...but o well...
