Just thought I'd show you guys a submerged XJ in Moab.

Looks like they got all the rain that is giving us this snow in Colorado.

Look down the postings for the pics of the submerged XJ.

Ouch, That snorkel is looking better and better all the time. Might have driven out of that if he had a snorkel, and all the other waterproofing goodies.

Besides extending all breathers and adding a snorkel, what else can we do to make our KJs more "seaworthy"? LOL

Stuff like making sure oil and tranny dipsticks are sealed, no open crankcase vents, silicon all electrical connections, make sure all vacuum lines are leak free/ extended, seal spark plug wires. Spend some time under the hood while picturing it under water :shock: . Try to seal up the doors as best as possible, no cracked/ripped seals, they will probably leak anyhow, one of my buddies actually pulled a plug out of the floor of his samurai and installed a hose hooked to a electric water pump to pump water out. It actually worked pretty well :lol:

It wouldnt matter in his case cuz other fourwheelers got him out, but here in AZ, we have a "stupid motorist law" (not kidding thats the name). We get a lot of flash floods in washes just like that. If the police or fire get dispatched to help you, then you can be charged with reckless driving and you have to pay for all the costs associated with getting you out (personnel, vehicles, helicopter,etc.).

that sounds like it could be salt in the wound, say.... if you just wrote off your ride and/or nearly L.O.S.T. your life :?:

Wow, that's deep!
Kane Creek is one of my favorite trails and I can definately see it getting that deep. I would not have tried to cross that during a rain storm.
I can attest to that water being full of sand. Even after a steam cleaning, I still find spots of red sand under my hood.

Wow, that sucks!

I've had a few nervous moments myself with water going over the front of the hood for a second, but I've managed to only get a few splashes on the filter, nothing really sucked in. No water inside yet either. I guess I've just been *really* lucky so far. Ok, time to knock on wood...

Kane Creek does get deep; here's a pic of my KJ on it back in '05:

That guy was crazy to go through that! No way I would ever attempt that without 36's, a winch to a tree, and everything sealed.

You also want to re-locate the BCM from under the axle to inside the cab where it won't get wet. Those pups are not cheap!

Is it under the rear axle?

We have plenty of other pics like that in Moab crossing that stream. I love it!

I believe we have a bunch in the Moab `06 section. It is locked so nobody can add more pics.

My BCM is on the drivers side dash. Its part of the fuse panel..

That's where mine is too. Maybe uvalax's KJ was built in China? ;)
