Post subject:  A Kj will get you home.

This week we endured the worst storm in decades, after 2 weeks of rain it started storming like never seen before and trees where falling down all over the place.
I had just picked up my wife and her co worker and was on my way back home, a 25 Minute trip when all hell broke lose.
In front of us a huge beech tree fell over the road, as we turned we found our road blocked by an other tree, so we could not go anywhere…..except off-road.
My wife opened a field gate reluctantly and we ploughed trough a field until we arrived at an 4x4 off road track, I knew it was there as I drove over it in a Defender a couple of years ago.
So there we where facing ½ Mile long trench filled with water (I really did not know how deep as it had rained for 2 weeks) between us and the main road where we could get to a place to spend the night.
I said it could be done and drove off with two screaming women in second gear 4LO down the side into the ditch, the water came to bonnet level but I maintained a steady bow- wave to keep most water away from the air inlet.
My KJ did not miss a beat and just ploughed on hitting the ground from time to time with the skid plate, it was dark and it looked quite strange with the headlights illuminating the water from underneath as they where submerged.
We made it to the main road and waited at a save place for the wind to die down, then the good nature of the Highland Scots emerged, everybody with a chainsaw and/or a bulldozer came out and started clearing the road near their homes and after a while we could get trough (although it was still very rough at times) and with a couple of detours via small muddy tracks and over tree stumps we made it home in 5 Hours.
My wife said’ thank god we bought this car ’ and her co worker was so impressed that she is going to trade her Volvo for a KJ.

As I look out of my window now I see my KJ standing there, being cute, like nothing more happened than a trip to the mall.

Cool story. And I'm sure the coworker is making a good choice for exchanging the Volvo for a Jeep. 8)

Great story. You should send it to Jeep and maybe they'll publish it in their magazine or online.

Nice work. That's exactly the kind of situation that makes you want to keep a camera in the car. Although I doubt you could have talked either one of them into getting out to take pictures!

Eh, yes, and a bit difficult taking pictures if your nails are imbedded in the dash for pure fear he he he.

I cleaned out the skid, got a whole bucket full of muck and wood debry out, she is now at the dealer for a well deserved service and ball-joint recall.
I asked them to check the transfer case, gearbox and axle oil in case water came in through the breathers.
I checked the interior for water leaks but she is bone dry. :D
