 Post subject: How can I tell if I have a trans cooler?

I expected to see a little radiator type thing up front by the rad but the dealer told me the alos made some with a trans cooler built into the ac compressor...does that make sense?

All auto trannies have a tranny cooler that's built into the radiator, if you look you'll see some small diameter high pressure lines going into the radiator. The little radiator thing you're referring to is an auxiliary cooler usually added by people who do a lot of towing or carrying heavier loads. I think your dealer was saying that the tranny cooler was in the vicinity of the AC condenser not compressor.

What year do you have? I believe any libby with the 42rle gets an AUX tranny cooler that is infront of the radiator. Any libby with the 45rfe gets the cooler built into the main radiator and a AUX cooler with the towing pack. :wink:

He has the 02. So unless you got the towing package then no auxilary cooler.

should I just fire on an aftermarket one as well just in case if im gonna tow a bit?
