Most 02's came with the Corp. 8.25 w/ drum brakes and 29 spline axles. Some came w/ a D35 though rare.

Maybe this will help?

The 8.25 and D35 covers are very similar but the 8.25 is wider.

Three rear axles: There was the 8.25 corp, The 194RBI (Dana 35), and the 198RBI (Rare super dana 35)

Look for a "Dana" Diamond on the rubber fill plug, Diamond stamped on the cover somewhere, or a bar code sticker on the front drivers side of the axle, or a metal tag on the cover bolts with a bunch of numbers with "AF" or "AB" at the end of it.

Hopefully you don't have the Dana for upgrade purposes.

If you want strength, the 198RBI with a noslip (only option besides trac-loc) will get you where you want to go, the Mall parking lot will snap, craX, & pop your teeth out though!!!!

Hopefully you have the corp

Later

If the bottom is flat, you have the 8.25.

And if you want to know everything your KJ came with you can go to Jeep's website and send them an email requesting your build sheet. I've heard you can get them from the dealer too.

You can get a build sheet from the dealer. Go into the parts dept and ask them to run it for you esp if you're looking for something specific. Make sure to have your VIN # handy.
