can someone explain to me in simple terms what a slip yoke eliminator is/does? |

stock the driveshaft slides in and out of the transfer case. if the driveshaft comes out, all the fluid falls out. the slip yoke eliminator converts the end of the transfer case to a fixed yoke (just like the front driveshaft output). which in turn requires using a different driveshaft with a double cardon joint. |

why is the drive shaft designed to slip in and out? is that for flexability/articulation? |

according to engineers................"looks good on paper". that's all i can think of. it's obviously not real good since that's one of the first things people modify. |

Yes, no matter the style a driveshaft has to have slip of some kind. As the suspension cycles it must get longer/shorter. When a SYE is install the shaft has a splined slip on it rather than in the tcase. The advantage, other than what was mentioned, is it allows for a longer drivline which decrease the angle of said driveline, allows the use of a cv/doubleC joint, and reduces the chance of vibration.... |
