So I just picked up one of those $17 u-haul wire-it-yourself jobbies, and it seems to be working fine. I routed the wires through the hole in the back of the taillight into the area behind the panels in the back. Now I just need to get that 4-pin connector out the bottom and mount it up under the receiver.

There is a little 1.25" x 2.0" hole that looks very much like it is meant to be popped out just for this purpose. It even has little tabs in the bottom. It doesn't just pull out though, it looks like it's either welded on, glued on, or maybe just held on with a layer of paint. Any suggestions on popping that bugger out? (or maybe some of you ran the wire a different way?)

So that is on the passenger side? Did you already have that rubber grommet there?

I have to route the wires for mine down the drivers side, since that is how the box is wired (short leads leading to the left lights, one long lead over to the right).

Yea, thats passenger side. Grommet was already there. Couldnt you just switch it? Put the long wire coming from the left and short wire from the right? I guess if you already have it wired that would be a big hassle.

Depending where you live, this may or may not be applicable. I left my wiring harness inside the Jeep and only take it out when I'm actually using it. We have a bad climate for wiring, close to the sea and a heck of alot of salt on the roads inwinter. Storing the harness inside prevents a heck of alot of trouble later on.

it's one of those boxes that has inputs for left blinker, right blinker, tail, etc, and it outputs the 4 flat (and a uhaul-proprietary 4-pin as well). The driver side is actually a clump of 3 wires (maybe a foot or two long. The passenger side (right blinker) is a single wire that is 4 or 5 feet long. I could splice on a longer cable to the three on the left side (or transplant them to the right side, but they are already spliced in).

I think I may go with action's suggestion of leaving the cable inside the jeep. I just need to find where I can easily stow it.
