My wife, my new '05 LIB sport and I are going to Cape Cod this weekend for our second anniversary. She's looking forward to walking on the beach I'm looking forward to hitting those places I couldn't with my Altima. Please give me some pointers for wheeling in the sand dunes. Your know how would be great!

air down those tyres to give you more footprint on the sand around 20psi is good for sand work or at least thats what i have found when driving on beaches in Australia it helps get you float over the powdery stuff at the top of the beach down to the harder packed wet sand IMHO

You didn't say if you had 4x4 or what? If you don't have at least a locked 4x2 then don't try it. That vehicle is so heavy it will not fair well.

Don't drive fast because if one tire sinks in you'll flip.

Thank's for the tips! I'll take the tires down to 20psi. Will that low a tire pressure be harmful to the tires on hard road? Should I use 4hi or 4 lo?
I'm so excited to get out there. :D
By the way my lib sport is 4x4 with the 3.7 litre.
Just got the larger memory card for the camera hope to share our little adventure with all of you after the 10th when we get back.
Best to all 8)

Mark,
Check this out http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=1353

Some of the guys from the North East section are heading there in a couple of weeks. I was thinking of going, but I don't feel like driving 7 hours round trip, just to drive all day  Anyways, there is a link in the first post about the requirements to wheel on the Cape. It looks like you need to air down to AT LEAST 15 psi (one of the guys was there a few weeks ago, and his stock tires handled this ok). There is also another thread in the North East section with pictures from when they went a few weeks back. Looks like loads of fun!

BTW, where are you located?

Tim
