Post subject: | Reverse and locks question |
When I back my 07 Latitude out of my driveway in the morning (or anywhere, for that matter), before the auto locks lock the doors, the rear glass solenoid sounds like it cycles. I'm going maybe 2-3 miles per hour when this happens, and I've only noticed it in reverse (only had the Jeep one and a half days so far). Does anybody else's Jeep do this? I'll try to experiment to see if it does it in any gear (or even in park after a set amount of time or not) as well. Thanks! |

Latitude is the new model for 07 (Renegade has been dropped). Long story short: Body-colored fenders, wheels specific to the Latitude, 6 cd changer + infinity stereo, silver-painted grille, and other misc. things included with the model. It's basically a combo of an 06 65th package and an 06 Special edition, together for 07 (minus the 65th's included sunroof) |

It's the cylanoids *spelling is not my strong point* in the trans that are making it. All Mopar trannys do it. The minivans and the prowler were about the worse. I don't think it's anything to worry about. Parakeet |

Parakeet The tranny puts off a buzzing noise. The glass is more of a CLICK.. ![]() |

Oh I'm sorry man I must have misread your post in my turkey induced haze. Yea the rear door always locks if you put it in gear. At least my 05 does. Parakeet |

We used to have an 03 and it didn't, and my girlfriend's 06...well...I've never paid attention. I would have assumed if it was locking that it would lock with the other locks at the same time...but mine locks the rear door/glass first, then at 15 mph the side doors all lock. Glad to know that the newer models all do this. Great forum guys! I love it here!!! |

Welcome aboard 07Latitude! I was wondering when we were going to see some Latitude's showing up. Put up some picts for us when you get a chance. My 05 has the backup click too. The only reason I can come up with for it locking before the doors lock is that you can turn off the auto door lock. The rear gate/glass locks whether the auto door locks are on or off. It might also be a safety mech to keep the rear glass from ripping the rear wiper off too. Until you mentioned it, it never occured to me that I don't hear it when I pull forward (instead of reversing). I would think that I just don't hear it as clearly because I'm not looking back over my shoulder with my head pointed into the rear of the truck. But it might be a bad design where they assume we always back out. |

My '06 Renegade with the 6 speed does it in forward or reverse as soon as it registers any speed, then the other doors lock at 15 MPH. |

I just found today (forcing myself to pay attention, lol) that mine does it in forward gears as well. I think it's true that it is less noticible as one's head isn't pointed towards the area the sound occurs when moving forward. |

Just an update, I did find my girlfriend's 06 does it as well in any forward or reverse gear. Thanks to those who posted. And to those interested, I did upload some (albeit poor quality) pictures in the pics of your rig section of my Latitude. Thanks again guys! |
