Tonight I drove thru a few puddles that were a couple inches deep. Did a little bouncing around too. As I pulled out my KJ stalled and I noticed my check engine light was on. I immediately checked the engine compartment for water and it was bone dry, but the light was still on and it wouldn't start at all. I let her sit for about 5 min and she started up fine, but my light was still on. Drove home about 5 miles to see if something got wet and maybe letting her warm up and dry out would fix it. Nope, light still on. Anyone ever had this problem? Does the light stay on until it is reset, or will it go out once the problem is gone? If it needs to be reset, can I do that or do I need to take her in? Everything seems o.k., no idle issues, no studdering, starts fine now. I'm puzzled because it was really only a couple of bouncy mud puddles Thanks in advance for the help folks!! |

I read thru a few older posts and found how to check my trouble codes. It shows a P0335 trouble code. Anyone know what this means? and how to reset it? Thanks! |

Hope this helps. The OBDII code is a fault in the Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor A Circuit. The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is mounted into the right rear (passenger) side of the cylinder block. It is positioned and bolted into a machined hole. It has like a tab on it that the bolt holding it to the block goes through. There is an electrical connector also on the CKP. According to the picture I found in the KJ service manual, the CKP is right above the oil pan and in the block (right rear). Maybe the electrical connector got knocked loose or got wet. |

I just went and took a look. Your description was perfect. It's still there, like you said, must have gotten wet. I'm suprised it is in such a vulnerable spot though. Can I reset the light myself? Thanks for the quick response too!! |

only way to reset it is to disconnect the battery for about 10 - 15 minutes, then reconnect. Or go in for warranty if you are still covered. |

Will I have to reset my key fobs or anything else besides the radio after I do that? |

That is not the only way, but without an OBDII test tool to plug into the OBDII port in the passenger compartment, it may be the only way for you to reset it. No, doesn't affect keys. Will most likely have to "retrain" the computer to your driving style. It will probably default to factory settings. Should take about 50 cycles of cold to normal operating temp before the cpu is retrained. Never had a light on my Libby yet. But, on other vehicles I've had with OBDII, the light went out when the problem was corrected. I'm interested to know if the light comes back on yours. |

IT WORKED!! Put the battery back on and the light went out instantly. Thank you all so very much!! It was sure easier than fighting with the dealer that it wasn't "abuse", it was just some puddle jumping that caused the problem. I guess on the next day off I'm gonna go and waterproof some of those connections with some dielectric grease. Now one last question. Anyone know where I can get a "Puddle Rated" decal?!!

I really doubt it had anything to do with the puddle unless something isn't sealed properly...
