So I've had a problem with my Libby since I bought it a few months ago. When I make slow turns my power steering stops working and it gets really hard to turn the wheel, if I give it a little gas, it works normally, so I'm thinking it's one of two problems. 1-My belt needs to be replaced (even though it looks fine, cheapest and easiest fix) 2-My power steering pump needs to be replaced. If anyone has any idea of what this problem is I would appreciate it. :D

Eddo says the pump is 80-90 dollars of you do need it. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=15021

If your belt isnt squealing and the powersteering fluid levels are ok it is probably the pump, I would imagine you could go to NAPA or Autozone to buy one. I dont know how hard they are to get to on the gasser but if you have any mechanicals skills at all it could be a DIY project to change it out.

Your idle isnt dropping really low when it cuts out is it?

If you haven't replaced either the belt or the pump before, I'd say replace both just for assurance.

Thanks for the help, that's probably what I'll do, just replace them both, my idle stays fine (around 1000 rpm's), so it's got to be one of those two. :?

Replacing the belt seems to have taken care of the problem, just in case someone else has this problem....
