| Post subject: | Strange noise from the front end |
Lately when I've been driving into driveways or sudden dips/hills in the road I am getting this noise from the front end. I almost want to describe it as a creaking noise. It's only there for the moment that I hit the driveway, dip, or hill then goes away. Speed doesn't seem to be a factor as it will still make the noise when I'm pulling into a driveway at 5mph. Anybody have any ideas? I've never had this before. |

I have the same exact problem from what you desribed, i get it worst when going over speep bumps. |

x2, also check and tighten the links form the swaybar to the lower control arms if needed. |

It's a common problem with older Liberties, and also those that are in cold climates. I never had a problem with it until I disconnected mine to install my lift and forgot to re-tighten the drivers side. Took me a few weeks to figure out exactly what was going on because the noise was worst when the passenger side was flexed. Luckily some others on the board were able to point me in the right direction

I have the same problem and have 28,000 miles on it. I am taking it in for my free oil change and tire rotation. I'll point these out and see what they can do. |

There is no zerk, although someone did drill and tap for a zerk before. I would just spray them down with some silicone lube and let it work its way in. |

I've noticed this noise when pulling my liberty out of my shop....it has a small drop off (4"-5")...it makes a loud creaking sound. I'm guessing its the same problem everyone else is experiencing. 02' w/ 82K logged...almost dead sure no one has ever greased the sway bar! I'll make sure to take care of it. I believe reading to use a NON-synthetic grease to avoid damage to the rubber bushings....can anyone add any info to this or correct me if I'm wrong? Thanks in advance... |

Yeah, spray both sway bar bushings (#2), both ends of the sway bar links (#8 ), and while you've got the lube out hit up the upper control arm bushings (#9). Silicone lubricant is probably easiest to use, just get a can at Wal-Mart (less than $2) and spray into the bushing areas. |
