Actually I have many of the items listed there, just not in one square box. Usually they're spread in two containers: toolbox (first-aid stuff, fire extinguisher, light stick, propane / stove, etc.), bear-proof container (food), and stuffed elsewhere :)

PS: price is $850

(and I think a little truth in advertising is called for here --- notice how many water bottles they show outside of the qube? You can't possibly fit that many bottles inside the qube unless the qube is some sort of dimensional-warping container).

I dunno, it does say 15 Liters of water. I guess since the box is so deep, if the water bottles were laying flat they might fit. Everything else really isn't that bulky. Mostly flat packages.

If all that really fits inside there then that has to be one of those things that If you took it alll out it would Never go back in the way it was. Oh and for my own sanity, they can just leave that soduku book out of there.
I think I will stick with the ones I put together for way less money and that includes the cost of a firearm.

Disposable Camera? Super Glue? Comb and Brush....c'mon theres so much in there that you DON'T need it's absurd. Give me a Swiss Army knife, some toothpaste, some string, a paperclip, and an old leather wallet and I can break into KGB headquarters blindfolded with my legs tied.

Seriously, there is so much in there that you don't need. Condoms, the superglue, a comb? Seriously...a comb? Who cares how you look when you're in a survival situation. And just in case you want to take pictures of you and your family's misery, they give you a disposable camera!

My survival gear includes the ESSENTIALS (granted, I know what I'm doing...). Clothing for the forcasted weather, 2 knives (ASEK and a small folding blade), water purification tablets, a bandana, about 100' of parachute cord, a watch, a small mirror, my surefire light, some steel wool, a 9v battery, and soon; a .40cal handgun. Survival really isn't that difficult and it's kits like that that make me wonder how humanity has made it this far...

Oh, I understand the condoms...they actually have many uses. Of course, they took care of most of them when they included the latex gloves, but you can also slip a condom over the barrel of a firearm to keep it dry and functioning in crappy conditions when not in use. You can also inflate them and put it on your head, just to keep the people dying with you amused for a little bit :lol:

We shouldn't expect or hope that a survival situation is going to be just like home. Probably there won't be time for word games or personal grooming. It's good to be prepared for physical injury and basic physical needs, like food, water, warmth, dryness. Also a streamlined kit (that you know inside out) is going to be more useful in an emergency: the ability to find what you need quickly is going to be worth, well, maybe a life or a limb. I can see such a kit being useful for a home or garage or cottage, but I'd recommend a simpler kit for the Jeep.

That seems to be a bit overkill, however, it is a good idea to keep some emergency supplies in your vehicle.
I've put together a kit for my car and one for the Jeep.

Since I live in earthquake country, I also have 3 plastic garbage cans with emergency supplies. One contains a camping equipment, including a tent + first aid stuff. The other contains clothes and sleeping bags and the third is full of food and bottled water.

I guess the completeness of the kit depends on the length of time you may be stranded. I do a lot of back country driving and fishing in BC and could see the possibility of being stranded for days, weeks or maybe a month or more in some areas. Particularly if you are injured a complete kit, with food and water, would be a must.

A condom so when you do get rescued your wife/girlfriend/Indian woman who nursed you back to health isn't pregnant isn't a bad idea either.

I got a good laugh from the price.

A lot of people don't have kits ready to go in the event of an emergency and it is a good topic for discussion. On that note, anyone see the Mossberg JIC setup? http://consumer.gzanders.com/itemdetail ... ber=G51340
A decent idea for a grab and run kit that includes a nice self defense tool. I would certainly add some extras to it or in another container but it is a cool idea for a start.

It even has food for rover! Oh wait but I've got three cats. I guess they just starve to death then :roll: I would buy the case empty and pack full of stuff I know I would use. They would be better off to sell it in different configurations with just first aid and some survival gear as standard with some of the other stuff as optional. And as for price, no wonder it's so frickin expensive, the 15 liters of water are from MT Fiji. That stuff runs almost 3 bucks a bottle around here. I'd stock it with some Deer Park or even some store brand spring water, much cheaper.

Yeah, it's a taaad too rich for my blood, considering I already have most of those. Not the firearm, though.
