I was wondering if anyone has tried, and if I could get some info how to install an aftermarket transmission cooler |

On my 03 w/ 42RLE and only an external factory cooler, I just removed the factory cooler, cut the existing lines, made brakets to hold the cooler and ran trans cooler hoses to the new cooler. Bada Bing. Is yours a 45RFE? if so, I believe yours is an in tank cooler in the radiator? You will have to, or should, run the new cooler in series w/ the factory cooler. Figure out which hose is the return line, it will be cooler to the touch and that will be the one you run into the new cooler from the radiator. The outlet on the new cooler will then run back to the trans return line. |

if someone does this on a 45rfe can you take a picture and label which hose is the intake and which is the return please |

What line you use is not really important,just tap into only one though.An easy way to find the supply line is to start a cold KJ and let run for a a little bit then shut down and then touch each line,the warmer one is the supply line.I can't remember witch one I tapped into,I just attached the cooler with the supplied zip-tie things that came with the cooler(detached the a/c condensor and only attached it to the condensor). |

I put one in this summer. I mounted it on the front of the radiator using zip ties that came with the kit. I wasn't sure how to get the fans out of the way on the back, but if you know how, it would make mounting using those zip clips or ties much easier. I also got a cooler almosttwice the size as recomended. It was harder to get it behind the grill, but I think it's very hard to get tranny fluid too cold, and much easier to get the fluid too hot. |

Anybody know who makes the best aftermarket transmission cooler? The Tow Package comes with an auxiliary oil cooler for the transmission, would that suffice? I don’t have the tow package and want to put one on. I didn’t know if an aftermarket would be a better choice or go with the Chrysler factory auxiliary oil cooler. Any thoughts? |
