Just saw one last night on the way home, and again on the way in this morning when I passed the dealer. That thing looks awesome. Anyone here planning on purchasing one? |

Seen them at the lot. I even took the time to look at it up close. I personally dont like them. They have lower clearance than a stock KJ. The idea of 3 rows of seating is great, but not for my age/what I want out of my Jeep. Its a bold step by Jeep and will attract lots of people. |

The size is kind of deceptive, it seems big in the photos but up close it's not. I do like that fact that you can get the 5.7, but as with all brand new vehicles, it's best to wait a year while the real world works out the bugs. |

Saw one on the road with dealer plates. I was interested until I read the review in USA Today. They drove it in sand and it SANK. The one I saw looked real nice. Too bad it sucks off road. http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/rev ... nder_x.htm |

Maybe those type of reviewers will call the Commader "Mall Rated" instead of the Liberty now. Or maybe the USA Today drivers just didn't know what they were doing. |

If I were a bettin' man, I'd say it was the latter. Although I have no plans to loose my KJ, my next Jeep will be a AEV Rubi. |

Yeah, usually. Lucky folks with the '02 KJ's got it higher, with a better transmission, an ashtray and two outlets up front. |

Maybe the Jeeps old age and wise offroad manner saved me from rolling last weekend? Nah ARB's and rock rails saved me!!! |

I too checked them out today. I was picking up a part and there was a white 2 wheel drive on the lot. I like the fit /finish..the interior is pretty nice, At least the glove box is bigger ! The 3rd row is pretty small...and the price was pretty big 41K after dealer mark up. 37K on the sticker. |

I don't believe I'll ever get a 3rd row. Such a waste of cargo space. Besides if you don't like someone make them sit back there and go wheelin'... |

Third row of seating is the absolute dumbest thing I've ever seen. My Dad's Explorer has it. There's no space, it's uncomfortable, and it takes up all your trunk room. If you've got 6 kids, get a minivan. |

Maybe that is there next move... Jeep will come out with a Mini Van and make it TRAIL RATED, thus giving it TONS of off-roading options, including Peanut Butter Flashlight mods. Yes I went there and darn proud! haha Take it easy ya'll, ADAM the Italian |

It looks like the one at the dealership near my work has sold before I got a chance to get a close up. The dealership near my house probably has many more though, so maybe I'll take a look this w/e. I'd have to guess that the tester who got this thing stuck didn't know much about driving in sand. Since this thing uses the same chassis as the Grand, I can't see how it would be that much less capable (with the possible exception of the approch/departure angles). Could a slightly softer suspension make that much difference in the sand? |

Hey! I loved the 3rd row in our Suburban growing up- that meant one of my siblings wasn't on my lap!! I guess this is just a Suburban off shoot... but you'd think it would be a little more capable than say.... a Suburban just because it was attached to the Jeep name. With the new gass prices, do you think Jeep tried to tap into the Suburban/H3/SUV market a little too late? |

I think they did this a lil late, but at the same time they had no idea gas prices were going to shoot up so much so quickly with the hurricane. Hopefully they go down over time, but it'll never be under 2.50 again, guarantee. Take it Easy Ya'll, ADAM |

Well sure, it can be nice if you've got alot of kids. But when you got the third row up, your storage space goes *poof*. But I'm not gonna kick the Commander yet. I kicked the Liberty before I tried it and I loved it. |

They've had one for the past few days at the dealership where I'm working. I had nothing good to say about it so I didn't say anything but since the can of worms is open..... I think the Commander is awful looking. It looks like a cross between an '89 Cherokee and a Range Rover LR3. Yuck. On a positive note: I had the chance to climb in one and the interior (from the driver's perspective at least) is really nice. As for its off-road abilities......I think that overhanging rear (at least) is going to make a liar of the Jeep website's claim that, "no trail is too rugged for the all-new 2006 Commander". We'll see though. Where the heck is the Rescue and the Gladiator?! |

That comment about the Gladiator and the Rescue got me thinking. DC must have something up their sleeve... Between the Rescue and the Hurricane concept, they certainly can't be giving up on being the off road brand.. There is no way they would dump that kind of money in R&D (expecially with the Hurricane) on technology they never planed to employ or at least gather good data from. I have a feeling the brand is going to explode from four to 8+ vehicles in the next five years, and at least one of those is gonna be a bad mama-jamma |
