These tires are almost identical (in size) to the YokohamaGeolander M/T265/70/17s that would work on my Freedom Edition rims. Is there a lot of rubbing? How are they?

Thanks in advance, BlueFreedom

Hey, we have our first customer...

There is a topic in Troy's Toys that is just what you're looking for. ;)

Actually, that post is about 245/75R16's. BFG TAs are quite square, so they are more likely to rub than a round tire with a less-aggressive tread like the Geolanders and Revos.

I don't have that tire, so I can't say definitively, but, based on previous posts, I would say you'd have to pound down your pinch weld and do a lot of additional cutting, and you'd still have quite a bit of rubbing.

Out of curiosity, why are you looking for 16" tires? Looking to get new rims, too?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking for 16" tires (I have the Freedom Edition which came with the 17" rims, also, the Geolander M/T's are a really aggressive tire, check them out at the Yokohama website.

Ah, yes, I misunderstood. You are making the assumption that the 265/75R16s will behave similar to the 265/70R17s that would fit on your rims. That's probably a fair assumption.

It would be great if you could find a store that will allow you to try the tires out for a few days. But I'm betting that you'll have a fair amount of rubbing even after trimming. In general, rubbing is a bigger issue with square tires and tires with aggressive tread.

(Sorry I can't be more help...I hope someone who has tried the tires you asked about will post something.)
